Hidden gem! The volunteer working was very friendly and wonderful with our children. The restrooms were super clean, too. We enjoyed a picnic and played some games in the yard. Super family friendly place!

Ottawa Visitors Center was a nice and very helpful place to visit to help plan our trip. The workers there were very nice and informative. There were plenty of pamphlets and maps to help plan and get around. They even sold souvenirs there. Overall, definitely a must stop at the beginning of any trip to Ottawa and the Starved Rock Area.

Stopped in to get my stamps for the Lincoln heritage area. Staff was very I formative, I learned a lot about the Lincoln Douglas debate just down the street in the park. Ottawa seemed like a interesting little town, really trying to put its best foot forward.

Very knowledgeable,,the young man was good..he gave me the info that I was looking for...But the Biggest Problem is there is no Sign saying What the Building is on the Corner..u have 2 look at the pic and go from there..The building should say " Visitor's Center" on a sign somewhere near the road,,not a block down from it..

The office is not easy to spot since it is in a smaller strip of shops. It did have a big selection of handouts available. People were not overly friendly and merchandise for sale was very limited.

Short walk from the square where Lincoln and Douglas started campaigning for the appointment to be a U.S. Senator from Illinois.
Impression is they were surprised to have visitors stop in. No other info about this debate, or other debates between them, offered or known, at least here.
Plenty of pamplets for local, regional, staewide sights to view, historical sites to visit, dining, lodging, etc.
The square could use some TLC to spiff it up.
