There aren’t enough amazing words I could write to describe Small Kitchen Big Taste. I recently got married and had Karen and her team cater my wedding. Karen and her team made the process of wedding planning so much easier on my end - they helped immensely with rentals, cake, liquor, layout of the day, and set up and break down on the day of. Not to mention, the food is TO. DIE. FOR. At our tasting, I was completely blown away by the flavors, the presentation, the details, and the effort put into every meal, appetizer, and dessert. I’ve never had better wedding food and my guests were RAVING about it for months later! Her staff were absolutely incredible. Professional, kind, hard-freaking-working, efficient, and detail-oriented. They brought my husband and I our own plate of passed appetizers when I was inside bustling my dress, boxed up any of our dinner we didn’t eat for us, and checked in at all the right times to make sure we didn’t need anything. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for our wedding. Please, do yourself a favor and book Small Kitchen Big Taste for your next event!!!

From the beginning, I knew working with SKBT was the best choice I made for my wedding day. Not only was every bite and sip absolutely delicious, but the service and professionalism from Karen and her team was top notch and not a single detail was missed. Karen is amazing and really does it all - from serving entrees, checking in with our family's tables to make sure they were happy, to cooking an entire platter of my husband's favorite appetizer for him when she she realized the last batch was already taken out at cocktail hour. We were speechless and they were thoroughly enjoyed the next day 🙂 It was such a relief to not need to worry about anything the entire night - from always having a drink at our table, to checking in on guests with allergies - Karen's amazing team truly handled it all. Hiring SKBT was one of the best decisions that we made for our wedding! I talked to Karen, the owner, and from our first conversation, she knew instinctively what I was looking for, and brought it to life beautifully on our wedding day. Mind you, I don't always know how to articulate what I want, but she was able to conjure exactly what I envisioned. Our guests are still raving about how perfectly cooked every bite was, from the appetizers to the desserts! My now-husband is also a vegetarian, and unlike many of the other caterers we talked to, this was not an obstacle for SKBT because Karen and her team have a very "can do" attitude. In fact, many of our dedicated carnivores were as impressed with the vegetarian options as the rest. Anything I asked for, SKBT did it! To top it off, I asked if they could serve pisco sour (a peruvian mixed drink) to celebrate my home country, and Karen didn't even think twice about doing it! It was so yummy, and even my super-picky peruvian family loved it. Karen was also great about communicating throughout the planning process.

On top of all of this, when it came to the wedding day itself, SKBT were amazing when it came to the logistics. Setting up, and taking down the tables and table settings was quick and efficient, and their servers were attentive and always on the ball. The logistics were a major source of stress for us, but they turned out to be a total non-issue. Shout out to head chef Tess, and chef Jules, who made our breath taking wedding cake.

I could go on and on, but I just mostly want to thank them for making our wedding day a DREAAAAAMMMMM :)! Thank you, guys! Will definitely recommend them to everyone and anyone!

We worked with Karen and her amazing team including her talented head chef Tess for our wedding in Summer 2024, and I literally could not recommend them more highly. We had a complex multi-cultural wedding and we wanted to do something special for our food, so floated the idea of Korean-style rice bowls with delicious mains and tons of vegetables and sauces to Karen. To our delight, she was super energized by the idea and SKBT did everything they possibly could to ensure that our food was absolutely phenomenal and unique, down to the tiniest of details. They also made their own vegan kimchi, which my Korean family complimented highly. Over and over again we heard from our guests how the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and one dear friend said, “this isn’t wedding food, this is HUMAN food” which is exactly what we wanted. Karen and SKBT are competent, creative, detail-oriented, and heartful professionals and we were so excited to work with them to give our loved ones the best meal we could with our budget. Just because we are in the middle of a pandemic don’t think you can’t have a wedding or small gathering. We live in Huntington Beach, CA. We contacted Karen and explained our vision of a Bavarian Octoberfest themed wedding and reception! Karen and her staff nailed it! We do not have a enough great things to say! They ensured everyone was served all the while maintaining protocol with PPE and distancing. Right down to serving the kids grilled cheese! They made a Bavarian chocolate cake that was amazing and looked as if it came right out of Germany! The entire menu was delicious!

WOW. I would give 10 stars if I could!! Karen and SKBT were absolutely AMAZING!!! They created an entirely gluten and nut free menu for our wedding day! Not only was the food absolutely amazing (that's not just our opinion - all of our guests raved about the food), the entire team was amazing. They made sure my husband and I had enough to eat and brought us water and drinks throughout the night. They were so lovely to work with and Karen was especially kind, flexible, and understanding with every curveball our venue threw at us. Our experience was absolutely amazing and I would recommend SKBT to anyone!! We love you guys so much!!

SKBT catered out backyard wedding for 72 guests, effortlessly in the pouring rain this past weekend. The service from the first planning stages was outstanding. They transformed our home into a wonderland when we had to move indoors for cocktail hour. The grazing tables were fantastic, artfully displayed and so enticing! The dinner was cooked onsite , fresh and delicious. If a caterer can prepare halibut and keep it moist and tasty , you know you are onto a good thing! I cant recommend SKBT highly enough.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Small Kitchen Big Taste (SKBT) to truly capture how incredible they are, but I will try. We planned our wedding at Woodbury Brewing Company, because it is a place that is special to us, it's a great spot for a live band, and it provided the feel we wanted for our day. The venue does not offer food nor does it have a full kitchen. Having amazing food at our wedding was extremely important to us. We wanted to offer a variety of small plates that were delicious and elevated, while still being unfussy. I searched and searched and when I found Karen at SKBT, everything came together. Throughout the process, Karen was professional, helpful and detail-oriented. She came out and did a site visit with me at the venue and managed any rentals that were needed day of. When our guest list crept up higher than expected with a month to go, Karen worked with the venue an rental companies to come up with a plan to maximize our space inside, while ensuring her team had what they needed to deliver fantastic food. Every time I spoke with her she assured me that she had everything handled and genuinely did not want me to worry or stress about anything. On the wedding day, when we arrived at the venue, the SKBT team came up to me immediately to introduce themselves and got us drinks and a plate while we finished photos. They confirmed the timeline since we were running a few minutes behind schedule and went to work. After that the frequent question we received from our guests and the brewery staff was "where did you find this caterer?!". Several guests referred to the food as "excellent". One guest told me that the food served at cocktail hour was not just the best wedding food he'd ever eaten but the best food he'd ever eaten. We served brats during cocktail hour and our guests from Wisconsin noted that, while they loved every bite, they didn't know how to feel about the fact that east coasters had made the best brat they'd ever had! The venue staff also raved about the food and how wonderful Karen's team was to work with. They were in awe of how seamlessly everything went and how well the two staffs, who had never met before, worked together. At the end of the night, the SKBT crew wrapped up all of the left overs for us, including our delicious cutting cake (made by them), and put it on the bus. I was told when I started planning a wedding at a venue without on-site catering, that off-site catering is not for the faint of heart. That is true, as there are many considerations and lots that can go wrong. However, if you hire Karen and the team at SKBT, you will be able to cross those worries off your list, knowing that you will have a partner in planning and the most delicious food you could imagine.
