A great Christmas feature. They do a song along north pole ride that the kids love. It's well done and includes a cookie, chocolate milk and a bell ornament for the kids.

What a wonderful family event! From the ticket office to the conductor, everyone was just so professional and so awesome. Highly recommend taking the little ones for a treat.

Terrible Experience – Unacceptable Delays and Poor Planning

If I could give zero stars, I would! My experience on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad from Stockyards to Grapevine on Saturday, February 15, was absolutely terrible. The train departed at 4:45 PM and what should have been a 25-minute drive turned into nearly 3 hours of misery.

We were stuck on the tracks for an absurd amount of time, forced to yield to DART and other commercial trains, with little explanation from the staff. It felt like we were completely trapped, just sitting there with no food, no drinks, while it got dark outside.

This kind of delay is completely unacceptable. If this is a regular issue, why isn’t it addressed in their schedule? Passengers should at least be warned ahead of time or offered basic accommodations like snacks and water.

I will never be taking this train again and do not recommend it to anyone unless you want to waste hours of your time stuck and you’d better just drive by yourself!

This was our third year to ride the polar express. It was wonderful the first 2 years…this year we left very disappointed. The train was over 30 minutes late. We were trapped in a very warm tent, uncomfortable due to us being dressed in holiday sweatshirts for the very cool weather outside. The elves did a mediocre show in the stuffy tent that the most important visitors, the children couldn’t even see or hear due to poor stage set up and even worse sound! In the past the children on board were presented the bells during the train in a very cute presentation…this year they were handed out as we boarded. No bubbles on board this year as well. The worst disappointment was Santa himself. The first two pictures are the Santa from last year…..very authentic! Clean and neat and had true Santa charm. He sat with all the children asking them for their wishes and interacted with each child making the time with him a precious moment. This year Santa was nothing more than a quick second for a photo that was anything but memorable. We truly thought we were being punked! For the price we pay for this experience, it was a let down! I hope they fix the issues and bring back a Santa that isn’t disheveled, has a suit that is clean and neat and can manage to keep his cap on and tattered wig in place! I would not recommend the train this year! Grapevine, you are better than this!

Great time for my son's birthday! Wish we knew about the teddy bear party where he would have gotten a free pass to the viewing tower but everything else was great. Cute singalong and entertainment! The 45 minutes was perfect for his attention span.

There aren’t many places to leave reviews but it seems like alot of the events are overpriced and well over-hyped because of social media and editing.

We went for the Wizard Train and it was a complete disappointment - nothing as portrayed. The decor was minimal and had nothing to do with Harry Potter/“Wizards” besides a broom on the wall in our cabin area (it was random Halloween decor). You can’t walk around to see decor in the other trolleys of course so maybe that’s the luck of the draw for which cabin you end up in.

Here’s the play by play: Board the train.. (no music playing, no guide or anyone letting you what would be going on). The train departs at the scheduled time and starts going down towards Haltom City. A stewardess comes over and offers soda/water/popcorn in a little brown bag for $2 each.
Then literally nothing happens for 15 more minutes. You’re just in the train going down in silence and confusion. The next major event was a girl who came through in a random costume to give one chocolate coin. The train had been going for about 20 minutes and then stopped in a random field. Shortly after, two “wizard” students comes and run a 2 minute skit and then a teacher wizard comes out and teaches the group to do a spell. 10 minutes after (while still sitting there), another girl came by and gave an owl eraser and someone with her gave a lollipop. 5 minutes after, a girl dressed in Wizard wear came and gave a frog finger toy. Following that last girl, one woman came and had a small skeleton thing she was holding and shaking in front of people.

The train started moving to head back towards the Grapevine station at that point and then one last girl came and had some candy in a bowl. Again, no further music, characters to see, or interactive bits.

Honestly, I just felt bad for the parents who brought their kids here on Halloween probably expecting a much better experience - only to walk away with a couple pieces of candy and an eraser. It was extremely disappointing and you could see the shock in people’s faces when the train ride concluded. At the very least, some music/decor would’ve been the minimum to set some kind of atmosphere for all the people who went there dressed up and excited!

My only goal here is to help others understand what to expect so they can decide for themselves if they still want to pay the $30 a person. Candidly, I’d pass on these events and opt for any other entertainment options, especially at that price point.

Day Out With Thomas 2024!

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and while that holds true for most things, it definitely didn't here. No easily accessible parking, there were considerably less activities for the kids and the Railroad didn't have much. We still had fun, but definitely won't be on our list of railroads to come visit again.
