We booked this vacation rental on VRBO in September. When I wanted to message the host a month later, I was unable to do so because they no longer had their house listed with VRBO. We were never notified of this change by the hosts; however, I was able to investigate and determine that their home had moved over to Airbnb. I called the hosts, spoke with them, and got reassurance that my reservation was still confirmed even though they moved to Airbnb. Two days ago, I received an email from VRBO stating that my reservation had been canceled less than three weeks before our vacation. I messaged and called the host, but they did not respond to further explain why they were cancelling our reservation at the last minute. The only explanation in the email was "Apologies, we need to do construction." Neither VRBO nor Airbnb could help me because the host confirmed my reservation on VRBO, which they are no longer members of, and never transferred my reservation to Airbnb. We had to find another home at the last minute, which has added $500 to our total costs. The hosts didn't have the courtesy to call or explain further. Your reservation may be cancelled with short notice if you book this home.

Total Fraud! Kate and Dave took our money and canceled on the day it was supposed to start, and referred us to VRBO's Stranded Customer line. We had to rebook at the last minute and they didn't even care. Reported to Santa Cruz Sherrif's office and better business bureau. DON"T BOOK
