This viewpoint provides a variety of different angles to capture the beauty of this canyon. From this area, you are offered a panoramic view along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, including the canyon ridges and Colorado River below. You can reach this viewpoint by private vehicle, hiking along the Rim Trail or taking the shuttle bus Yellow Route. In the area you will find a restroom, parking lot and a geology museum with a gift shop. Yavapai Point is truly a geologists and nature enthusiasts dream spot, to examine, study or simply stand in awe of Mother Nature’s beauty and its extraordinary geological history.

It was awesome to see the history of the rock formations in the Grand canyon in the museum. I love geology. It would have been a lot better if it was kind of interactive

Absolutely breath taking scenery. My family's first experience at the Canyon. Definitely worth the wait and we will visit again one day.

Given its proximity to the visitor center, this is a popular place for sunsets. If you are looking for a spectacular sunset though, we recommend either going much farther west past Hopi Point, or much farther east to the Desert View location, or perhaps Lipan or Moran points. There is a small geology museum here though and that was much more informative than anything at the visitor center. Plus you can walk right up to the edge of the canyon within the museum for a pretty dramatic view over the side.

Yavapai point provides spectacular views of the Grand Canyon and a fitting place for the geology museum. Sheer walls look deep into the canyon. Easy paved trails link to other nearby locations. Definitely worth a stop by itself or on the way somewhere else. Easy to find a parking lot or free shuttle bus. Great part of any exploration of the south rim.

Yavapai Point is hands down one of the best spots to take in the Grand Canyon. It’s super easy to get to and gives you this wide, sweeping view that feels like it goes on forever. You can even spot the Colorado River way down below if the light hits just right. What’s cool is that the geology museum is right there too, so you can actually learn a bit about how all this was formed while you’re staring out at it.
