My first impression of this motel with a very colorful clown themed paint job was a very creepy vibe when we arrived. The nearby cemetery didn't help. Although after meeting staff who are really friendly and even offered us the suite for a very reasonable price, I decided to give it a chance. It turned out to be comfortable, quiet and relaxing enough to come back for another stay. There's even a gift shop with many clown themed items to see and buy. This place isn't on any of my hotel apps and not sure why they don't answer the phone, but if you arrive and there's a vacancy you won't find a better value anywhere else in the area.

We saw the signs while driving by and decided to stop—and we’re glad we did! The outside of the motel is painted in bright, bold colors, featuring just about every clown you can imagine. There’s even a cemetery next door, which adds to the overall creepiness of the place.

The museum is free to enter and is part museum, part gift shop. Inside, there are thousands of clowns—most of them donated over the years. You could spend a lot of time just taking in all the different styles and expressions packed into this small space. The staff are super friendly and helpful.

We picked up a couple of postcards from the gift shop. Definitely worth the stop if you’re into quirky roadside attractions!

The people are amazing and the beds were really comfy but the room could use a little work. It's kind of alone in town so it is a bit of a trek to get food or supplies unless you drive. Definitely a fun place and having the cemetery next door makes it pretty spooky.

This is a review of The WORLD FAMOUS Clown Motel! It's located in a small mining town called Tonopah, Nevada, 3 hrs North of Las Vegas! We choice to stay in Room 210, the "Halloween" room. MOST of the themed rooms, had documented paranormal events take place in them. So if you have a chance, and want to possibly have your own haunting, I recommend picking one of them. The room was clean, and had nice esthetics. Also have a decent sized fridge and microwave if you decide to bring food or have leftovers from a local restaurant. This hotel also offers Ghost Tours with a local Medium/Tour Guide which takes place at the nearby Cemetery at night. It was very cool and for the $10 add-on it was well worth it. (Even for just a history lesson). The owner of the Motel, Vijay is top-notch and goes above and beyond for his guests. Also the Office is the Home of a very large and CREEPY Clown collection, that you definitely do not want to miss! I highly recommend this Motel if you're a Ghost Hunter or into the paranormal, and I can attest to having my own "Experience" while staying here. The Clown Motel, truly is one of the Scariest Motels on Earth!

Make sure you go online and book a room so you get the one you want. We were able to stay in the pennywise room and it was fantastic. Take advantage of the tour through the graveyard at night. You won't regret it.

Totally not worth the premium rate you pay for it, but you're staying there for the experience of being in a completely clown themed hotel.
No dining options which is a definite area of opportunity. Also would've paid for an overnight 'scare' option if they had it, but don't, which would've been cool especially when staying in the IT themed room.
Carpark needs a thorough resurfacing.
Tonopah itself is quite a spooky place to be in the middle of nowhere.

I love clowns. I've been obsessed with clowns ever since I was a child. My mother and my father used to be a clown! I remember seeing them as the perfect duo in the world. However, they died together in a terrible accident. Anyways, when I came here I felt like I was close to them! Thank you Clown Motel for being there for me. I love you. I think the clown dolls love me. If I die, I want to be stuffed into a clown doll so I'm there forever.

Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but the kids love finding out they stayed in haunted places. The place is absolutely creepy, especially at night, knowing there is a cemetery a stone's throw away. Each room has a different theme and different look inside. Some are a bit outdated, but you can see that from the outside. It's not a 5-star hotel, so don't expect it. We were happy we had a bed to sleep in after a long drive from Lake Tahoe. My wife kept insisting that the eyes in the picture would follow her around the room, which made it more fun for me.
