My husband and I went on the 14 day tour in Costa Rica with WPA in March 2023. I looked for a tour that really emphasized wildlife, but wasn't a hardcore birding tour where everyone was obsessed with their "list", and that is what Wild Planet Adventures delivers. The guide, itinerary, driver and most of the restaurants were great. The hotels ranged from ok to excellent. The hotel that was originally planned for us at Cahuita Nat'l Park cancelled on our group at practically the last min. and the alternative hotel was not very good, but managable for a short stay. That cancellation also cost our group our only opportunity for a night hike (apparently).

Avoid Wild Planet Adventures. They sold us a package for an Alaska wildlife viewing tour that was double the price for what we would have paid had we booked directly with the lodging. Staff at the lodge told us that WPA guests consistently were disappointed because of their misleading and over-hyped promotional materials. WPA’s owner is a skilled salesman and very successful marketer … but NOT a reliable adviser for booking your next “dream” vacation.
