Jordan: Adventure with Purpose. Fabulous. Incredible. Exceptional.

My trip to Jordan with Wild Frontiers was the most enriching, the most amazing, the most satisfying I have ever experienced. It was far beyond anything I have ever dreamed of what my trip to Jordan would be.

Every aspect of the itinerary was very well thought out, well organized and expertly executed throughout, from the preplanning process until the follow-up after the trip. It was a perfect blend of sight seeing, challenging hikes, and community involvement.

What I love most was the interactions and experience with the diverse facets of the local community. This deeply immersive experience made the trip much more meaningful and memorable.

This is my third trip but actually my first booking with Wild Frontiers. I have been recommending Wild Frontiers to friends and everyone I come across. And I have since booked several more tours with WF and I am looking into booking for more.

Me and my partner travelled to Jordan with Wild Frontiers. My guide was Raja Shatat. He was brilliant. He has great knowledge about the country and it’s fascinating history. I’d highly recommend a trip to Jordan. It’s an adventure that will live with me forever. Our driver Na’el was also a big part in our trip being so successful. Thanks to everyone involved in the making of this incredible adventure.

Review for Wild Frontiers “Via Egnatia”
September, 2023

My wife and I just completed the Wild Frontiers Via Egnatia trip in Greece. We have traveled extensively with many different companies over many years. This was one of our best trips ever. Our rating is 5+.

First praise is to our guide Tasos. What a wonderful individual he is. Tasos, a Greek native, has an encyclopedic knowledge of Greece, Greek history, culture and Greek geography. He is patient, caring and a warm, considerate person. We are very happy to have traveled with him and look forward to taking other trips which he is guiding.

Our itinerary was awesome and unexpectedly good: the monasteries and churches at Meteora, the architectural ruins, museum and tomb of Philip II, various cave complexes including Dragon’s Cave and Alistrati Cave. We stopped at many ancient churches, monasteries and mosques, and natural wonders, some on our itinerary and many not. Tasos made sure that our experience was as comprehensive as possible.

Our accommodations were always comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We usually stayed at local hotels and guesthouses, chosen by Tasos, avoiding touristy chains. Often we were the only non-Greeks.

Now a few words about the food: fantastic and nothing less. Everything was local and plentiful, lots of vegetables and high quality meats and pastries. Fortunately, we remained active enough to burn off most of the extra calories. Again, the restaurants were “genuine”, and local, personally chosen by Tasos.

I enjoyed our hikes and walks. Some of the hikes were more difficult but all could easily be done by a moderately fit individual.

We had a great group. Everyone got along surprisingly well. There were no complainers, whiners or “duds”. By the end of the trip we were “family”. We look forward to traveling together in the future.

In summary, we enjoyed a great trip, a great leader and great participants. Thank you Wild Frontiers.

Five Stan’s trip - Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Not well planned, time management very poor, little or no cultural siting until Uzbekistan, long travel days, poor accommodation, ablutions very poor, group had stomach, bowel issues. Tipping effectively mandatory to pay bus drivers, local guides and heaven knows what else. Tour leader good and managed COVID that went through much of the group effectively but didn’t complete the trip. 3 people did not complete the trip - physically unable or too tired to continue. Kyrgyz guide was exceptional and provided a history and knowledge effectively for all the Stan’s. Other local guides a bit lazy.

A friend introduced me to Wild Frontiers about seven years ago and I've been on a number of amazing trips with them since, from South America to Central Asia and North Africa. The itineraries are interesting, off the beaten track and I've had some wonderful memorable experiences. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Just back from a Wild Frontiers trip to Guatemala! As usual Wild Frontiers had organised a fantastic adventure ensuring we saw the best of this marvellous , welcoming and diverse country .

From its towering volcanoes, spectacular mountain ranges, blue mirrored lakes, lush landscapes , superb natural scenery ,ancient Mayan cultures , mighty monuments,to its colonial influences, vibrant local markets and diverse communities.

Alejandro the local guide was a mine of information sharing his passion for the Mayan civilisations and bringing it to life . He ensured that we experienced local life and culture, a perfect ambassador for his country
Loved the varied means of transport and the interesting itinerary put together by Wild Frontiers

Just completed the second of two fabulous holidays from WF. The first in November - A slow boat to Aswan took us into the heart of the country with stop offs at villages and houses the larger river boats just pass by - we saw the real Egypt. The second over the New Year - Guatemala with an extension to the Mayan ruins at Coban in Honduras was truly awesome - what fantastic countries. Already booked my next trip - the 5 Stans of Central Asia.

My three weeks in Pakistan with Wild Frontiers was the trip of a lifetime. We flew to Islamabad and from there to Chitral where our adventure really began. We travelled by jeep up into the Kalash Valley where we watched, and participated in, their Spring Festival. From there we travelled up, over the Shandor Pass and into the Hunza valley. This was my second visit with Wild Frontiers to the amazing Eagle's Nest hotel, surrounded by seven of the highest mountain peaks in the world. We travelled from here to Skardu and on to Khaplu, where the extraordinary Khaplu Palace, rich with Tibetan influences, is the most romantic place I have ever stayed. All along this varied and thrilling trip we were buoyed up by the welcome we received from the local people. I will never forget it.

I travelled with Wild Frontiers for the first time seven years ago. Due to a change in personal circumstances I was looking for an adventure. I wanted the security of travelling in a small group and looked at a number of companies who went to the Himalayas. Reading about a Wild Frontiers trip in the Guardian, I rang the office and was immediately put through to owner Jonny Bealby. His enthusiasm and personal touch quickly helped me make my decision. Since then I have travelled with Wild Frontiers four times, and on each occasion I have been impressed by the quality of the tour leaders, their knowledge of the areas we visited, and their attention to detail. They really couldn't do more to make each individual member of the group feel at home. The Hindu Kush is an area close to Jonny Bealby's heart, and it was a privilege to meet and stay with people - including Mufti the jeep driver, and Saifullah in the Kalash valley, who were our trip leader Jonny's friends. Jonny, Mark, and local guides Riaz and Atta, could not have done more, sometimes in difficult circumstances, including bad weather making roads impassable, to make our whole experience a happy and comfortable one. The most important thing, which makes me return to Wild Frontiers, apart from their unique itineraries, is the staff at the office, all of whom, either have knowledge of the individual areas, or can put you through to someone who does. They are interested, well-informed and patient, willing to answer any questions, big or small, whether it be 'is it safe to travel' or 'do I need to pack my walking boots'. They want you to have a happy and comfortable experience, and actively encourage clients to talk to them.

It takes me a long time to process all the sights and sounds, tastes and smells of a Wild Frontiers trip. I am still reading The Gilgit Game, and When the Indus is Young, but when I can tear myself away from those mountains in the Hindu Kush, I will be browsing the Wild Frontiers website, dreaming about my next adventure.
