Whispering Pines Lodge - Kernville, California

We arrived without reservations on a dark & rainy night a closed office, but there was a sign and phone number that we called and we were checked in remotely. The door was unlocked for us and the heat was on. We stayed in the "RiverView" (105) room. It was cozy with a gas fireplace and balcony overlooking the river. The bed was comfy with plenty of blankets. There were complementary waters, snack bars and hot chocolate. In the morning light we explored the grounds a bit. There is a staircase down to a path that leads to the river. The price was affordable. The room was clean and we were delighted. We will stay here again if we pass this way.

The view and the ambience are amazing- I will definitely return. Total peace and quiet. Mine was a mid week stay so it was a very tranquil retreat, listening to the river and so many birds. The lodge could use a little refurbishment but all of Kernville is a throwback in time so I actually thought the lodge's age only added to its charm. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Ewings on the Kern is a wonderful dining experience. The Pizza Barn was also good. We loved our stay.

The whispering pines is a perfect place for rest and relaxation. The room was cozy and had the essentials needed for a comfortable stay.. microwave, fridge, coffee pot etc. |the balcony was beautiful as it overlooked the Kern River and the mountains. There are nice walking paths on the ground, and even has a nice pool! |My husband and I will definitely be back

This place is so fun to stay. Our family loves coming here in the summer and swimming in the pool and taking a tube ride in the river. We also like staying in the fall and winter months. My kids like how close we are to Kernville and walking to get a meal in town. We also like to BBQ on the Lodge BBQ and just hang out. Every time we come visit we have a fun time.

This place is quiet, serene, picturesque, with an awesome pool. Our room had the cottage charm, super clean, huge bathrooms, and style of posh freshness!

This is a wonderful retreat on the Kern River. Clean rooms, excellent service and a prime location. I’ve stayed in a few places around and in Kernville, and this is by far my favorite. The price is low considering the quality of the establishment and the location. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation.

There is much right about this place. Less than a mile outside the little town square, which has some unique shops, and just uphill from the river, a five minute walk.

The big rooms have personality and basic expected amenities, high ceiling, a balcony with seating and table, cold a/c. Ours (110) has a sizeable bathroom with separate sinks, makes getting ready easy peasy. Staff has been kind and accommodating. This is my second time here, and I'll return in the future.

The room had a fridge and a mircowave, you also had a balcony with a view in the nearby forrest. There was no problem whatsoever. There was a pool that was cleaned and had lights, but is still not usable at night for some reason. The bathroom had a shower and even a bathtub. We only stayed there one night, but even in that one night we experienced on the morning some deers infront of our room. They were friendly and were only eating grass, but it was very fascinating viewing them from our room. The room had a carpet that unfortunately had some stains, wich was not so appealing, but the beds were very ok.
