We visited Friday night with our family. Have not been in a while for no reason other than time. Have always had a good experience when visiting, but this time was a little special. Our Waitress, Dakota, was phenomenal. She was attentive and available throughout our visit. She gave extra attention to our two kids. Everyone agreed Dakota was amazing to deal with by the end of our meal and then she went another step further. She came out with a live lobster on a tray for our 7 and 3 year old kids to interact with. They were excited and couldn’t stop talking about it. Thank you for giving us a great Friday night experience when we were simply looking for dinner. Great job! -Jim-

I had the Lobster Mac n Cheese, it was cold but still tasted great but fairly small portion. My uncle ordered haddock chowder, he got served clam at first. His Moscow mule was made poorly. Marinate Chicken was not good, sides were good though. Fried scallops were excellent. I came here for my birthday and my Grandmother did what grandmas do and embarrassed me by telling the waitress Samantha it was my birthday. She goes “Okay” and rudely took our order. Never smiled, never checked on us, we constantly had to flag her down for check, to fix the chowder, to order dessert. She never gave us refills and she only had 2 other tables. It was empty. I can honestly say, it was the worst waiting experience I’ve ever had. Then to top it all off they were out of the only dessert I wanted boo 🙁 I loved the Lobster Mac but will definitely never go back.

The fish and chips was good BUT the potato skins were the worst I have ever had!! They were definitely not fresh,had absolutely no taste and over cooked. We ended up throwing them away after a couple bites. Pretty sure they were frozen.

Unfortunately the crab stuffed shrimp special is very bad. The stuffing is dry and hard, and there's absolutely no crab that I can see in it. NOT RECCOMMED. But the service was good. And I love the atmosphere as I've been going there for 30 years on and off whenever I drive by. However this trip really made me rethink it. Quite a lot of money for food that I could not eat.

We stopped in one of the Weathervane Seafood locations on a drive to Portsmouth for a late night dinner. The lazy man lobster did not disappoint - with a generous amount of warm, buttery lobster meat ready to eat without all the work!

My husband & I went for a late lunch yesterday. Neither one of us had been to a Weathervane for many years, but remembered it being delicious & and overall a decent experience. We were bummed that they were no longer serving the rolls, but that didn’t break the experience.

Our waitress was inattentive & appeared unenthusiastic about her job. We were given dirty appetizer plates, our waters were not refilled without asking & she forgot to refill my husband’s water after he asked. Lastly, we were seated right behind the hostess stand, so we could hear the waitress’ complaining about their co-workers while at the hostess stand & the front desk area, which made for an uncomfortable experience.

I hate to leave a review like this as I normally give people “the benefit of the doubt”, but as a waitress once myself I was disappointed in the low quality service we received during a non-busy time (2:30 in the afternoon, three tables had been sat in total including us), & the gossiping about others within ear shot was incredibly distasteful. The food was still just as delicious as I remembered it & it came out nice & hot, plus large servings, so bonus points for that!

Weathervane is a chain, but this is the only one I have visited so I can’t compare. We arrived on a summertime Friday night to a small crowd in the bar and only a handful of tables populated. I attribute this to Covid and a local concert drawing people away from local eateries. We had drinks, which were good. Pictured are a side salad, a “broiled trio” (daily special), and fish and chips, chips were substituted with onion rings. Service was speedy and attentive, food was good and reasonable portions for the cost; the broiled trio (stuffed scallops, shrimp, and haddock) was especially good. Solid choice for a family meal.

This last visit I ordered take out. I drove to weather vane and ordered in the restaurant. The service was great my order was brought out to me quickly. The food was excellent. It was still hot when I got home.
