This experience was pretty cool for me(Point Reyes backpacking). A bit challenging but that was my own fault. Martie (Martin) was our guide and what he doesn't know is that he genuinely made my trip something to remember. I struggled both days but he stayed back from the group and encouraged me the whole way. I even appreciated all conversations with him because the others in the group came together so they basically stuck themselves, plus some of those convos left me feeling optimistic about my future travels. Anywho, you may or may not need all the gear on the checklist depending on the weather. I literally only need my beanie for the evening, sweater and thermos for sleeping. Yes, the headlamp in case you need to get up at night and toothbrush and toothpaste. ALSO, if this is your first hike and you buy hiking boots make sure you break them in before hand! Thank you Martie!!!

I have just returned for the overnight trek to Shi Shi Beach with Will as our guide. I would like to thank Treks and Tracks for providing such an excellent adventure. Most of all though, I would like to pay my compliments and gratitude to our guide (Will) for making the trek fun, interesting and informative. He is a truly amazing guide. I have to admit I was a little nervous going on my first ever overnight backpacking trip. Will made me and I think everyone feel safe secure and comfortable (well, as comfortable as you can be).

In July I did the Shi Shi Beach trek with Will, who was a fantastic guide. He was very accommodating and considerate to everyone and was easy to get along with. He made sure we were prepared and gave great tips on how to pack and handle the backpacks. A really nice touch was the wine and cheese he made for us pre-dinner. The beach was gorgeous but two issues were that: 1) the hike itself was quite short and pretty easy, whereas the website advertises it as moderate+ (I take that to mean moderate to advanced). This was disappointing as I was looking for something longer and more challenging. This also meant we were instructed to take way more food (to cover lunches + snacks) than was needed as we were back before lunch the next day 2) we were not told in advance that we needed $20 cash to park the car overnight. Having come from Canada, we only had a certain amount of American cash and luckily covered it, but this is one of those details that would have been very helpful to know in advance.
All in all a gorgeous trip with a helpful and friendly guide, but I did not learn a lot of new information- which is what I thought I was paying for- and due to the length and ease, I felt I could have arranged this particular hike myself with a group of people.

Fantastic trip! We did the Half Dome trip last summer. The guides were experts, kind and endlessly helpful. While we were struggling with some of the hills at times, the guides were always fun and encouraging. All I can say is go do one of their trips!!
