It was a overall a good experience. I spent a great deal of time researching horseback riding in the Verde Valley with many stipulations such as pricing, are the horses well cared for, group size, etc. this seemed to be the best bang for our buck.

The horses were well cared for and looked very healthy. The ownership staff was very passionate about their horses and their care and maintenance.

Our group size was 6 people, my husband and I and another family. We booked the outlaw trail and overall it wasn’t that exciting. It felt like the majority of the ride we followed close to a road so we never felt “disconnected”.

Our stopped three times out some some historic scenes but didn’t offer to take any photos of us on the horses or any extra benefits. We never crossed a river, but maybe it wasn’t the right trail or the right season? Not sure.

The entry procedure seemed a bit…. Stressful maybe? There was really no instruction on how to guide the horses, what to do, or anything they helped you get on then sent you on your way which was a little nerve racking. My horses kinda had a mind of his own and luckily I had some prior knowledge to guide him. Otherwise, my husband who it was his first time on a horse may have been going in circles in the pasture for awhile.

Overall I’d recommend it.

The parking lot was large and their were restrooms across the street.

Dead Horse Ranch is one of the best places to spend the weekend. You can camp here in a tent, rent a cabin or simply spend the day. The views are wonderful! How great is our God, the Creator!

It was a lovely time. The horses were fun and have their own personalities. I enjoyed riding Honey who was gentle and very careful. The trail is beautiful and Cowboy Bill our guide was very informative and helpful.

Amazing place. Beautiful horses, well taken care of. My guide, Bill, was great. Very knowledgeable about the local surrounding towns and their history, sharing with me many stories and facts about the ranch and the ppl, making my ride both fun and interesting. Scenery was gorgeous and the weather was perfect!

My husband and I had the best time today at Trail Horse Adventures! We were the only two who signed up for our 11:30am ride, so it was nice to have our own private ride! Our guide Keys was very educated on the surrounding areas, and we learned so much. Our horses were lovely as well, JD and Frank the Tank were so beautiful and fun to ride. We will definitely be back again!

We did the 90 minute ride and it was just long enough to enjoy the experience without being bow-legged. I'm a big guy so they paired me up with Frank (the Tank), a very large and easy-going horse that does like to stop and eat the shrubs. My girlfriend got a more spirited horse since she fancies herself an equestrian aficionado. The guides were informative and the terrain was fairly diverse. I recommend this for just about anyone, regardless of experience on horseback. time can run a few minutes over so be patient.

Sadly, we did not have a good experience with one of our riders. We booked a trail ride for 10/12/24. I explained up front that we are all novices and needed "bomb proof" horses. My wife had a most unpleasant experience riding Honey. She was very spooky and bucked multiple times. My wife was scared to death to the point of not being able to continue the ride and had to dismount and walk back to the stables half way through the ride. When the rest of us got back, I overheard one of the stable workers stating that Honey was very hard to control when he was trying to work her in the pen. Honey was obviously not the proper horse for a novice. My wife is adamant she will never ride again.
A business that cares about it's customers would have immediately offered a refund for this disasterous ride. Since the then, I've reached out to Trail Horse Adventure to discuss this and emailed as well. They have not responded. It's obvious they do not care. BEWARE!

Fun for all ages. Varying durations. Slow, nice n' easy, ride. Great for birthdays. Staff were super chill, friendly, and informative. Cash tipping the tour guide (15% - 20%) accepted and I'm sure very much appreciated. Enjoy the park while you're there, just heads up there's a seven dollar fee, per carload, to enter the park, in order to get to the horses. They'll have bottle water available. Don't forget sunscreen, closed toe shoes, long sleeve, and perhaps a hat. Younger kids required to wear helmet.
