A lot of things were out of place here. The single big thing was no hot water (meaning no water at all) was available on our second night due to a water leak (per the front desk). Little things were: the outside side door next to our room was supposed to require a passkey but did not require anything as it was always unlocked from the outside, our used towels were collected on day 2 but no new towels were left (leaving us without enough towels), a cat was seen walking around inside, no housekeeping (no bed made, trash taken, etc) was done for a 2 night stay, no hair conditioner was provided on either night, the room furniture was small, humble and the breakfast was pretty meager with weak coffee (NOTE: breakfast began at 7am). The staff was very pleasant, room was clean, location was fine and quiet. I would try another hotel before staying here again - the inability to take a shower when I had planned to was too great an issue for me.

Not the great but nice place to sleep! The old lady at the reception was super sweet and helpful. The room was clean and bedding was well maintained. We booked this place last minute and because of the limited options in surrounding we were not sure if it would be comfortable for sleeping however it was better than the expectations.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Sunset Inn. From the moment we walked in Mindy (who may be the greatest hotel receptionist of all time) made us feel so welcomed and at home. Our room was spotless and the beds were extra comfy. The bathroom had great water pressure in the shower and the room made you feel more like you were in an apartment rather than a hotel which we liked. Great restaurants and coffee shops near by and extra close to Great Sand Dunes NP. An extremely great value for the price and we hope to be back again one day!

Nice and affordable hotel. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and spacious. The beds were comfy. The two guys working there were very friendly. Breakfast was OK. Thumbs up for the guy making the waffles. It would be wonderful if they added a couple more items to the breakfast menu, like oatmeal and fruit.

Absolutely enjoyed my stay at Sunset Inn!! Steve and the staff are SO nice and welcoming - probably the most welcoming staff I have ever met! As a solo traveler with 2 pets, I felt extremely safe. The hotel is super clean and anyone can see that it is very well taken care of. You're about 35 minutes away from Great Sand Dunes and a bit closer to Zapata Falls. Lots of things to see and do around here!

Also, my favorite thing about this hotel is.. they have kitties on site! There are 4 cute cats roaming around in the hotel. They are adorable. Come say hi 🙂
Oh.. and breakfast is free and delish. Ok - I am done lol

Good family business. Clean, quit place for a good price. Big parking lot. Security is provided at night and you have coffee and best waffles for breakfast.

We had a pleasant stay. The staff is great, from the check-in guy, overnight, and morning person, we always felt welcome. Comfortable rooms/beds, with spacious small kitchen that has a fridge, microwave and extra cabinet space.

The Wi-Fi was inconsistent. It worked some of the time, but not others. The breakfast was limited to pastries, cereal, and pancakes. Maybe we arrived a bit late to breakfast. Not sure.
