First of all, this place is GREAT. I can’t believe people ever review negatively. They say it could use an update but I think it’s in great shape. The beds are comfy, room is super clean, tv etc., are of this century (flat screen) pod style coffee maker, little desk, balcony over pool also looks at the marina. It’s very peaceful even with air traffic. The staff were super nice, shower had cheap/decent product but it has what you need, cute pool towels and nice pool and hot tub. (Working as of today’s date for sure. 5/15). I love it here. You can’t beat the price period and you are ON the bay. There’s an El Toritos Mexican restaurant walking distance. They DO charge $18 parking so beware. I used super dot com, to book and saved about that much so it was offset. Anyway, I recommend. They also have some good items and free welcome treats at the front desk. I hear breakfast is not great, maybe that matters to you, I am a coffee in am girl. I’ll put some pics from check in, it was nighttime and one of the view.

I arrived at about 11:30 at the Marina Inn on Friday, 4/26. There were 10 cars in the parking lot, demonstrating only a few guests at the time. I approached the front desk and inquired about a courtesy early check-in. I was politely informed that there would be a charge because Check-out time was noon. I commented that the place was relatively empty. I was told to return after 1pm and I could then check in. I returned at 1pm to be informed that there is an $18 a day parking fee. I stated that when I made the reservation by phone, I was not informed about this. I was politely ignored and was told I was required to agree to it. I was not informed of any free parking I could utilize nearby. I went to sleep that night to be awakened by the couple above me having relations loudly at 5 AM. They were at it for about 30 minutes, banging the bed repeatedly and shouting and grunting. I heard more than I wanted through the paper-thin walls and ceiling. I even tried using the toilet, only to discover that I could barely wedge myself into the tiny cubbyhole that constituted a space to sit. I managed to get back to sleep when I was awakened by the alarm clock, evidently set by the previous occupant for 6AM. Unrested, I gave up on sleep and looked out the window at the bay that was a mudflat in reality. There was a view of the uncovered pool with ducks swimming and defecating in it. I didn’t attempt breakfast, which included shot glass sized paper cups for tea and coffee. I wouldn’t send my enemy there to sleep. The only redeeming part was a pretty sunset Friday night on the mudflat (not a bay).

This used to be a great place to stay until the city closed the marina. Now the view is just empty, deteriorating docks which I guess isn't terrible but not what it used to be. The hotel has always been a little dated but the fraying around the edges is becoming more prominent. Beds are comfortable, rooms clean, coffee and fridge in room. Waterside rooms have patios or balconies. The exercise room is tiny and bare minimum. The included breakfast has been scaled back to bare-bones as well. Pre-packaged pastries, bagels, and waffles (no cream cheese or syrup), oatmeal packs, cereal, bananas and apples, and juice, milk, and coffee.

This used to be the perfect place for a lower-cost hotel with ho-hum bedding but a full, average hot breakfast, in a pretty spot. Giving up luxuries was more than made up for by location and breakfast. But no longer. Now they do things like offering an upgrade to a "deluxe Queen", no different from the queen rooms. (The window opened to a wall 10 ft away.) The breakfast is now a few pre-wrapped pastries, an old juice dispenser, and even weaker coffee. There were pre-wrapped bagels, but no cream cheese. And now they try to charge you $18 to park overnight, when you can park 10 ft further away at the restaurant for free. They know it's a trick so much that, when you say, "never mind, I forgot I don't have a car and I'm not parking here," they shrug and smile and don't charge you.

We booked this place specifically for the hot tub but we come to find out it was not working. Okay that’s on us for not checking ahead of time but still. We asked if they could knock off the parking fee for the inconvenience and the front desk person declined. She went on to say, “it’s been known the hot tub’s been broken for a while.” That’s great. So a prime amenity is unavailable yet you’re perfectly fine with charging for parking. She also gave me the contact info for the owner and said he would most likely reject my request. I got the sense ownership is cheap. Just take a look at the ceiling above the front desk counter, the work looks shoddy, like they got some guys from the Home Depot parking lot to do it. Won’t be back.

Positive: This place is a dump. Seems like it houses a lot of homeless people for the government. Finishes are at least 20 years old. Carpet old, lighting old, wall paper old. Negative: Worst continental breakfast offering I have ever seen in some 300+ hotel experiences. - cheap, low quality, no protein, junky fruit.

1. Misleading - When searched from SFO Airport, hotel shows Free Shuttle... but that is NOT there. Hotel Management does not honor what they have listed online (Google or Expedia).

2. Misleading - It is more than 1-hour drive from SFO Airport. I had to pay 2-extra days for the rental car (> $ 120 cost, Uber asked $ 200 one way) and multiple Tolls (> $ 32) to drive from SFO to/fro the Hotel. * Hotel is hiding this fact.

3. NO Free Parking (Even SFO airport side Hotels provides free parking), but this hotel charges $ 18 per day (for the open area parking).

* Again misleading to show the lower price (on Expedia) but charging in other ways.

4. USELESS Breakfast, even cereals are packed in just half cups, No Eggs, No hot item, Not even the bread was there.

5. NO Drinking Water. They provided 2-small plastic bottles, and asked to pay for the 3rd bottle (we were 3-people and stayed 2-nights).

6. UNSAFE - Homeless people are walking and living around in the parking... while Hotel charged $ 18/day for the open area parking. NEVER Advise to take this type of hotel.

Excellent stay for the price, a good value. Hotel is lovely; rooms are clean and equipped with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker; staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is bagels, pastries, cereal, instant oatmeal, fruit cups and fruit juice and a variety of coffees and teas with nice fireplace heating the room. It is unfortunate that the marina is closed but there are parks and recreation and restaurants within walking distance.
