This is a wonderful place to stay, especially if you love historic homes. Beautifully restored home, delicious breakfast, comfortable beds, and wonderful hosts. Bill and Debbie were so welcoming and knowledgeable about the area - their tips on how to get around that area and what to see were invaluable. We would definitely stay here again - just lovely people and a lovely home.

Our visit to the GB&B was fantastic. Bill and Debbie were excellent hosts who shared their time and stories with us during breakfast. Bill prepared the breakfast during our stay at the B&B and he is an accomplished breakfast chef. His pancakes were light and fluffy along with his scrambled eggs and sausage. Both he and Debbie were a delight and made every effort to ensure our stay was comfortable and without stress. We highly recommend this B&B and our hosts if you are interested in the next level over and above a hotel. We are already working on our next visit. See you again Bill and Debbie!!!

Hubby and I came here 7/8-7/10. The home was built in the 1700,s and is a historical gem. Gorgeous grounds with a beautiful, large porch which we enjoyed! Bill and Debbie are gracious hosts, available anytime! Make sure you stay for breakfast, which is included, because Bill will make you what you prefer! It was fantastic both days. ||We found Milton to be very nice and quiet compared to the beach area. A great place to stay!

Stayed here with family for 1 night in August. My first B&B and now I'm afraid Bill and Debbie set the bar too high. Absolutely immaculate. Comfortable beds. Private bathrooms in each of the 2 main guest rooms (3 total, 1 has twin beds and shares a bath with the largest room). Historical charm with updated amenities where you want them, i.e. bathrooms. The owners are on site and go out of their way to be informative. We didn't stay for the full breakfast of pancakes and sausage Bill offered, but had a delicious fresh fruit cup and coffee in the gorgeous dining room with a view of the garden. TVs in the bedrooms, fireplaces, air conditioning units worked great. Beautiful front porch. I think it's a perfect spot to stay after a day at Dogfish, right down the road. Can't say enough good things and I know my family will be back!

Went to Milton for a birthday excursion to the Dogfish Head brewery. The Govenor's was the perfect place to stay in that it was an easy (and pleasant) walk to and from the brewery. Downtown Milton is even closer, where there are some great dinner options. Breakfast at the Govenor's was excellent: home cooked, hot and cold dishes, great coffee. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our room had a nice mini fridge that was ideal for our "souvenirs" from Dogfish. The owners were extremely kind and helpful when it came to dinner suggestions. The house itself is a charming piece of history, and Milton is a very nice town. If you're planning on a trip to Dogfish, or even just to this part of DE (it's not too far to the beach), this should be your first choice for accommodation in terms of quality and convenience. I plan on making a return trip to Dogfish with my family, and we'll certainly be staying at The Govenor's if it's not booked up!

Bill and Debbie are wonderful people and we enjoyed being in their B&B. They are friendly, helpful, and very accommodating! The house is beautiful, the rooms are clean, and they serve the best breakfast around. Can't ask for more than that. And BTW, Milton is a cute town. We happened upon a free outdoor concert in the park and enjoyed that too!

Without a doubt, our Easter week stay at the historic Governor's Bed & Breakfast was a wonderful experience.
Bill & Debbie (the gracious proprietors) really know how to provide their guests with excellent service as a result of their many years operating this gem of a property. The 40 year authentic restoration effort is evidenced by their meticulous attention to detail.
We appreciated the delicious home made breakfasts served in the charming formal dining room, the thoughtful amenities, well appointed bedroom (with a very comfy bed and fresh fruit replenishment, lovely grounds, close proximity to terrific restaurants, and the Prime Hook Wildlife Preserve, and of course- having Kings Ice Cream just down the street 🙂
Do yourself a big favor and reserve a room in this gem of lodging. You won't be sorry.
