What an adventure! First off, the parking is fantastic—totally free and super convenient! As you stroll through, you’ll feel the history come alive, though the path could use a little smoothing out for wheelchair access. This place is perfect for families, bursting with events all year round that are sure to captivate everyone!

To really bring the past to life, it could use a few more reenactors to enhance that enchanting period charm. But overall, it's absolutely fascinating! The fort boasts all original buildings and an impressive collection of artifacts. I was especially taken by the building featuring a massive fireplace—what a sight! There's so much to discover while you're here; it's definitely a place that promises a memorable experience!

A good slice of American history. The Fort is a reminder of the way the people in the Fort lived and the re-enactment shows how and with what they fought to protect us. Great for kids if you have a morning free.

This is a great time for, well, anyone! My wife and I visited on a Sunday and had a great afternoon. The fort itself is well done, putting yourself in there, imagine what life would have been. The best thing for us is that there is very little that is "Don't touch". The staff are all volunteers and are extremely good. Brought points home that I hadn't considered.
In all, yes, you should give this place a visit. Spend a few hours and learn what frontier life in the 1700s was all about.

A wonderful museum, so much to see and do. And the historians are wonderful to interact with. Loved seeing all the different room set ups. 😍 plus the tinsmith and blacksmith were so informative.
My wife Jeanie and I went back for the first Annual Scottish Highland games, wow what a cool venue Fort No4 is for an event like this. And there is so much outdoor space. Attendance must have been in the thousands yet you wouldnt know it. Plus parking was a breeze.

I like to look at reviews to get a feel for the overall perspective of a place and many of the lower reviews for this place are dated and in my opinion unjustified! First, This is a must see as most of us have no experience with the hardships that the early colonists experienced. This is not a fort but rather a fortified settlement necessitated by the early attacks by the French and their indigenous allies upon the unprotected settlements away from the major coastal cities which were better protected. The host and volunteers are quite informative and although few in number provide informative details regarding the structure and life in the mid 1700s. The best deal for admission if you plan to return for reenactments or just want to visit multiple times is the couples annual or family membership! I am military retired and there is no military discount currently but I don't have a problem with that as this is a charitable member, private corporation and attendee driven enterprise that gets little or no funding from state or federal historical budgets! Finally, the reenactments and other special events make this a must see as many Americans are quickly losing knowledge of the hardships that were experienced creating this great country. Not everything was positive but many colonists and future Americans pursued the dream with good intentions.

Great visit with family of 9!. It is amazing to see how they kept this area look so nice. Entire staff there so friendly, helpful and attentive. We were with 2 kids and 1 baby and they had fun in the Fort At No 4. Watch tower has great view of the river. Thanks for the great experience!

Have gone here multiple times over the years, and enjoyed it very much. However, the fort is deteriorating and it’s slightly unsafe that way. It’s unfortunate. Hopefully they get enough funding to restore it, tarps on the roof really kills the colonial feel.

Pretty small but when demonstrators are there, it's worth it! You can do a self guided tour and explore at your own pace, or take a guided tour that doesn't cost extra. Nice and quick but really informative!
