Based on the previous reviews I was hesitant to book here but my boyfriend and I wanted to get out of town and decided to take a chance. It wasnโ€™t really that bad. Ritz Carlton, no but we werenโ€™t there to hang around in the room. Itโ€™s an old hotel about 5 minutes away from the downtown area. The room was clean, a little musty smell-which was easily corrected with a dose of Lysol spray It was quiet. The owner was nice and helpful. The bathroom was clean good water pressure. Air conditioning working great, and running in out room upon check in. Reasonably priced and will stay again green lake is great. Bring your boat canoe or kayak

My sister and I love the Dodge Co. area, and go on a couple of sister's weekends a year. We took a chance at the Dartford Inn, even though it was a bit non-standard, as far as motels/hotels go. We stayed a long weekend last October ('12) and loved it! There weren't many others in rooms, which was fine with us. It's what one might consider a bit of roughing it in the sense that you have to bring your own soap & shampoo, etc. Towels, all cooking utensils, a stove, small fridge, and all other amenities are hidden behind these cool, retro cabinet doors in the small kitchen. The heat worked fine; the shower was adequate, but the views of the river were awesome! This place is so neat! It was built out of re-purposed telephone poles in the late 1940's, and apparently has been a pretty popular stay-over location for hunters, golfers & fishermen, as well as sisters out exploring the world together. I was a little disappointed at the spring rates (we're leaving tomorrow for another weekend there), vs. the "out of season" rates; too much of a jump in price for what you're getting. All in all, we were charmed, and we're returning for the spring season with nothing but excitement!

Two stars only because the staff was nice. I went here not expecting high end but at least decent. No way. When we first checked in the maint. guy followed us in from the pool and said the clerk will be there shortly. I tried to make small talk about the pool and the guy said it was shut down due to it not being up to code by the health department. Not a good start. In the lobby there was junk piled all around and it smelled horrible, like BO and mold, like something out of hoarders. The clerk comes and gives us keys...to the room we did not book. We booked the 2 beds with a kitchenette. My husband goes back and shows the proof of what we reserved, from their own website mind you...not a third party site. The guy gives in and gives us keys to the room type we booked. The room smelled like BO and mold. The carpet was horrible, did not want to walk on it in bare feet. We don't have a lot of money so we were stuck here as we could not afford another hotel and wait 10 days for a refund. The sheets were stained and the bed covers smelled like mold and BO. We had to go to dollar general and get air freshener and lysol to disinfect everything and get the smell out. I don't mind old or a bit run down, but I do mind smelly and nasty. We do not recommend. It's a shame as this place could make a killing if they took proper care of it.

We booked quite late (10 days before) and the price was still affordable.|The room was a bit old but very clean, bathroom as well. Surroundings are really calm, absolutely no noise, so perfect night.|The breakfast in the morning was simple but nice... Espacially for the handmade waffle by the motel boss !!! He was very kind to us, very friendly, and we enjoyed his company.|For aviators, it is 30 min away from Oshkosh !||Itโ€™s cheap and we had a warm welcome ๐Ÿ™‚

I stayed at the Dartford in 1985 when I came up to visit Ripon College, and I stayed there again last week for a reunion. As someone else said, perhaps not the place for a romantic getaway. However, it is clean, convenient and reasonably priced. I could see this being a great spot for folks who come up to fish or otherwise enjoy the area around Green Lake and plan on spending most of their time away from the motel. If you want full service and full amenities (at full price) there are palces in Green Lake that will accommodate you. If you need a clean, comfortable room, I'd check out the Dartford.

Was up in Green lake for a quick visit in the winter. This is one of the few places that happened to be open. The owner, Larry, was very accommodating and friendly. Our room had a kitchenette which had a fridge and a table and (I think) some cooking equipment, but we did not use that. The location is close to town and the price was right! The owner was able to be flexible with our check out time because it was winter and the place was not booked up. They have two (older, but nice) limos and I think they use them to shuttle folks to town (probably during more peak seasons?) but it's worth inquiring about.

Rooms are extremely dated (not "rustic"), a/c works horrible and is probably 15 years old, pool was shut down by the health department, no breakfast because the health department shut that down as well, the dock is pretty much useless and very small, they have great black wasps in the sunken hole in the parking lot, playground had a shredded aluminum can in the kids sand pit, there are numerous cats running around everywhere and the room has a very musty smell. The housekeeping guy did a great job though.

Had an awesome time here!!! Very quaint little motel, with the bare essentials covered! Clean rooms and linnens, tho a bit outdated (not our main concern). Very friendly owners/operators! This is a pet friendly motel, which is a plus! The only minus about being pet friendly: the owners 3 small dogs are loose on the property, they are NOT trained, greeted us by jumping ON our vehicle (I can still hear the nails on my paint!!! ๐Ÿคฌ) and then tried to enter our vehicle while we were unpacking! The owners did secure the offending animal the rest of our stay, and we never had an issue with it again. Would highly recommend this no frills motel!!!
