Perfect place to stop when getting sleepy behind the wheel. It's free and there's parking for all types of vehicles, cars, pickups, pickups with camp trailers, RV's and semi truck/trailers.
Very well lit, lots of green grass to walk the pups in and nice concrete walkways around the grounds. Oh yeah there's teepees all over the place with nice tables for having lunch, dinner or just to sit and relax.
Best of all this place is totally free to stay the night or just a nice spot to take a break.
Thank you Colorado for a nice well lit place to take a nap on a road trip at no charge.

One of the most interesting and relaxing rest areas you will find. A large Interstate freeway rest-stop with several picnic tables and walking trails. A 24 hr restroom with regular hours visitor center. Statues and information regarding the Pony Express stop near here.

This is a very unique rest area. Was a great pit stop and place to catch some ZZZs when road weary. Will make sure to always stop here when traveling from Colorado to Nebraska.

Always a stop on my way through! I absolutely love the smashed Penny souvenir machine! Always clean! Personally I highly recommend stopping here during the week days, I believe 8 to 5 mountain time, when the welcome center is open. There is a sort of tower in the welcome center you can go up for a view. If you are here at night, watch out for the giant toads that blend in...they like to eat bugs by the doors due to the lights. However, they are extremely photogenic! ( I only recommend viewing them, not touching or disturbing them) this stop is a must if you are traveling through!

Great overnight stop on our way through. Pretty quiet, though just off the highway, there is a grassy hill between the parking and the highway. Safe and plenty of room for Rvs and trucks.

Loved it! Nice, clean restrooms. Very friendly & helpful volunteers in the Welcome Center. Lots of free info, pamphlets, maps, and books on Colorado. Huge eagle sculpture by local talent, lookout tower inside. Teepee covered picnic tables, lots of benches, great foliage outside. Glad we stopped. Learned a lot!
