We have been going to Stouts since 2022 and got married there in August 2024. It was the most magical wedding weekend ever. We rented the entire island Friday - Sunday and filled it with our family and friends. It was the most memorable weekend. The food was AMAZING, staff were so kind and accommodating and everything ran smoothly. It was EXCEPTIONAL. I cannot imagine having my wedding anywhere else. This is a hidden gem!

We went back for the food and wine harvest this past fall (our 2nd time) and it was even better than the prior year. The portions were huge, wine delicious and such a cute space. We even got to see the Northern lights both weekends!

We have too many good things to say about Stouts. There is truly nothing like it. I saw someone say that there are no TVs in the rooms.. yes that is correct but that is part of the experience and ambiance. It’s the island of happy days to escape reality, enjoy what really matters to you (for us - spending time with family and friends, playing lawn games, enjoying meals together, playing on the lake at the swim dock, exploring, etc).

I feel truly lucky to have had our wedding here and experience a historic place with family, friends and those that work here. Our family is planning to go back every year! We look forward to returning next season!

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of September and had a wonderful time. We felt right at home. We stayed in Lodge 1 which provided great views and the bathtub was very nice; our room was very clean and met all expectations. We enjoyed walking around on the island, the tennis courts, and tried taking out a canoe as well. We went on a Sunday through Tuesday in the fall so it wasn't as full as the weekends and summer dates likely are, but we had no issues with feeling crowded and there were no hot water or wifi issues for us.

We submitted payment to reserve a full cabin for a weekend next August but 2 months after the lodge called and cancelled due to a wedding. Their attempt at a fix was offering a mid-week off season rental.

Renters should be aware that reservations can be cancelled anytime without warning.

The atmosphere on Stouts Island is relaxed and magical. The historic family resort has been sensitively maintained and enlarged to accommodate more guests, yet it does not feel crowded by any means. The rooms are well appointed with period furniture, thick bath towels and soft sheets. Staff is amazingly attentive and helpful; the food is delicious. The grounds are so beautiful, one feels one is stepping back in time to another era. Evenings include a cozy bonfire and s'more kits!

Stayed in Clara 2 for our wedding anniversary.
Pros: Great location, and quiet.
Cons: Expect us to dress nicely, but muddy pathways make it hard to wear nice shoes.
Poor service, took 2 hours until we finally got our food.
No TVs in room.
No wood provided for bonfire and I didn’t see the smores like promised.

Would I come back again? Most likely not.

I was the officiant for a wedding on Stout's Island. This is a wonderful venue for weddings. The buildings have a lot of character, the staff is very responsive and the food is out of this world. The setting is beautiful for weddings and with the boat ride to the island is a nice romantic addition to the experience. The staff on the ferry ride and on the island are very responsive and helpful. This is an ideal location for a wedding.

This place is absolutely incredible and I’m so glad we found it! Loved every minute of our time here. The ferry boats were always on time and the food in the restaurant was great. To those snowflakes that can’t find a few pieces of wood for their bonfire or are too lazy to ask for a s’more kit in the lodge, gimme a break. There’s no tv in the room for a reason. Get right with nature and put your phone down for a weekend. Go to this place. You will thoroughly enjoy it! If you’re not completely helpless that is.

Our stay was incredible at Stout’s. We went out to tour it as a potential wedding venue, within the first hour of being on the island we were hooked and wanted to commit to it for our venue right away. The location and the staff made it one of the best stays we’ve had and we will be back because of that. The food was top notch, the service was even better. Our room had everything we needed and the views are amazing. We had no complaints and wanted to stay even longer. Stout’s Island Lodge will always be a special place for us and we hope we can get married here.
