We highly recommend anyone visiting the park to arrive early to avoid the nightmare of waiting in long lines. We left Las Vegas at 0500 hours and arrived at the entrance around 1000 hours on Monday morning and had to wait approximately 24-20 minutes before getting into the park. The next day, we arrived at 0800 hours on a snowy and windy day, and we still had to wait at least 15 minutes in line. However, once you enter the park the traffic was not bad at all. Only three lanes were open both days and the far-right hand land is for people with annual passes. We will say that all the US Park Rangers we met over our two-day stay were fantastic, friendly, helpful and very professional.

The lady at the entrance gate was extremely helpful. She asked if we were planning to visit other parks and spontaneously recommended the America the Beautiful Pass for $80, which covers your vehicle and all passengers. It turned out to be a great deal and much cheaper in the long run. The process was very smooth, but we made sure to arrive early, as traffic can get heavy later in the day, and parking fills up quickly.

Along the South Rim, there are free shuttle buses that make it easy to get around. However, to reach some stops, you need to get off at a specific location and then take the bus in the opposite direction. It’s a good idea to ask the driver where to get off, especially if you're heading back to the Visitor Center.

The South Entrance is well-organized, with plenty of signs and helpful staff. It’s a great starting point for exploring the Grand Canyon. We highly recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds and enjoy the best experience.

Right lane is faster cuz it splits into two lines! Both are slow at 10 am tho. Also there’s no express lane so you have to wait for everyone in front of you to buy a ticket

I don't know how they haven't made this more efficient by now. We came the day after Christmas and waited in line 30 minutes to get in (with a park pass.) The next day we came around 7:30 AM and the line was non-existent, so it seems the earlier you get here the better. Google Maps factors in the wait time if you pull up directions, so that's helpful at least.

Well maintained entrance station; the line was not too long during the weekend. It’s always good to slow down and pay more attention to pass through the entrance.

Visited Monday, 10 am. Some schools on spring break. Wait was 20 mins. There's no express lane for lifetime passes and the like. Everyone was pleasant.

Google Maps labels the entrance station as a "toll road" and if users choose an alternate route, it maps them down an unmaintained dirt road that is not ideal for cars (328 & 328A). Cell signal is spotty and emergency services have difficulty covering this route. Tow trucks charge a premium ($500 to $1000). Google Maps also list the park exit as being a toll route, which is false. You pay the entrance fee to enter the park, not to exit it.

The left lane ends up being slower bc a third lane opens on the right, so the right lane moves faster. The rangers are fantastic, let’s appreciate their service to us all! Everyone has a bad moment now and then.
