By far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. People screaming at hours of the night. Beds were so uncomfortable. I will never stay here again and I don't recommend anyone staying here if your looking for a good nights.

We stayed during the grinch bar crawl. No hot water in our room (as expected). No spooky experiences, but the walls are paper thin. We heard a couple fighting which was actually entertaining LOL. It was definitely dated and eerie, but I will say it was probably some of the most fun we have ever had!! I wouldn’t stay there sober or for more than 1 night at a time but we will definitely be returning!!

My group stayed here for ghost investigations. We got quite a show through our equipment. It is an old hotel, if you’re looking for modern you aren’t going to find it here. It’s a historic experience.

Be mindful of luggage as the stairs are steep!

This hotel is most definitely haunted and has a history to it. Room 11 is often booked because of ghost adventures but my friend and I found rooms 21, 20, 12 and 13 to be just as active. I've also stayed in 6 and 3? years ago and those also got spirit voices. There is no a/c in the hotel and no coffee/breakfast or shampoo so keep that in mind . They do allow dogs but a spirit messed with my dog in room 13 (charger cord was tied around her neck after leaving her alone a few minutes) and I got badly scratched in room 21. My friend woke up cackling in rm 11. The maid also got bit on the thumb and showed us the bruise. This is the first time the spirits have done more than just touch you. There were a lot of drunk people making noises all night and it's the month of October so maybe that got the spirits worked up.

Room 26 Could use new mattress, they provide soap but no shampoo. Get there early for parking, only about 4 spots in back of building; after tourists leave you will find lots of street parking. For the age of building it was in decent shape. Rates are a bit overpriced and we didn’t hear any ghosts which was our reason for staying in this hotel.

Silver Queen is a prime location on the Virginia City Boardwalk. My daughter and I stayed in room #13. It was just perfect for our adventure and we loved it. #13 is a pinkish purple room with a tub at the foot of the bed. The room had plenty of space for the two of us and some. I pulled her around Virginia City in a little wagon and we had a splendid time.

Positive - The young couple that manage the hotel are friendly and helpful. The lack of modern amenities such as a TV and AC is disclosed on their web page, as is the 56 steps from the street to the third floor. Our room (#21, I think) was clean.
Negative - The room was VERY hot because, although it was May and the overnight low was 50F, there was no window. (A window is not a modern amenity). Plus, the transom above the door didn't open. The room was small. I paced it off and I'd guess 18x18 feet. The shower stall, although clean, was maybe 2.5 feet wide. I'm not a big person but when I dropped the shampoo bottle I had to bend over in a catcher's crouch to pick it up.

Magnificent 1876 historical hotel. Great staff, and just an incredible building. The front half of the hotel has the highest ceilings of any room I've seen. Plus all of the history that surrounds it with the silver mine, and the gold mill tours. Loved it! (plus, trivial, but they have better TP than any Hilton or Marriott I've stayed at!)

12-2024: I’d also note it’s an easy two block walk to EV chargers at the courthouse
