Did a one day, 1on1 Whitney Moutaineers Route summit with Kurt on 7/18/24 and it was literally one of the most memorable days of my life. Kurt is everything you'd want in a guide and then some. Cannot recommend SMI enough and cannot wait to book my next adventure with SMI!

Kurt is a fantastic guide! He took me up the Mountaineers Route of Mount Whitney and led me to a successful summit. I was looking for an introduction to backpacking for me and my 6 year old, and SMI set up the absolute perfect experience. Kurt seemed to know exactly what I was looking for. He set us up with an incredible guide named Liz. She planned the perfect trip, with multiple route, campsite, and difficulty options based on how my kid was doing. We pushed hard at times but took fun breaks and played fun games when needed. Kurt and SMI were very responsive, easy to work with, and custom made an unforgettable experience for us. I can't recommend SMI, and specifically Liz as a guide, strongly enough.

Had a great experience with SMI for a Whitney ascent via the East Butress! Kurt was great and was very helpful getting the details together. This was a last minute booking and Kurt immediately got back to me and coordinated! Ross was our guide and was super! Highly recommend SMI!

5+ stars for SMI!!!!

I strongly recommend SMI if you are considering a Mt. Whitney climb. Kurt and Liz were amazing in helping coordinate our trip, help us with rental gear, and guiding us on the climb.

Liz was our guide on the mountain, and set our priorities early: 1. Be safe. 2. Have fun. 3. (Hopefully) summit. We managed to accomplish all three and had an adventure we’ll remember for a lifetime!

Once on the mountain, the team tents and meals were great. We had plenty of food and water at all times to keep us feeling strong.

I can’t recommend SMI enough! Keep up the good work!
