My 5 year old daughter Meadow is a HUGE fan of this city wide scavenger hunt!! Whenever we pass a historical building around town with a sign out front, she yells, "we got to get the link!!!" So we always stop and do so. She then will sit in the back seat of the car and listen to all the stories over and over and over again until she fully has the information retained. Her favorite pillar of the Rock Island Community is Susan Hauberg and she loves learning how Sue's family is connected to most locations!! Her latest favorite link is the House on the Hill story. She loves how the recording sounds just like Abolonia inviting you in for tea as she tells the story of the house, again connected to Sue's family as it was Sue's uncle's home. We also spend a lot of time at the downtown library and she loved learning it was the oldest library in IL, run by a woman, and again tied to sue's family!
This has been such a blessing watching my 5Year old eat up all this information! She often falls asleep in bed listening to the many links we've collected. Thank you so much for this amazing gift that my daughter and I, both local history lovers can enjoy together!!!
