This was an awesome experience. The attention to detail in the design was impeccable. A lot of thought was put into this place. The bathing and hot tub experience was very much relaxing. To top it off, the food was excellent. 98% of the dishes prepared were new to me, and 100% were delicious.
The hosts were very kind attentive to our needs and made us feel comfortable.

My husband and I just spent our 5th wedding anniversary at this B&B and it was WONDERFUL! It felt like stepping back into Japan. Glenn and Yumi were very nice and welcoming. The food was delicious - and I'm a picky eater, so that says a lot - they ran a bath for us both nights we were there and they had a lot of stuff grown in their home in Japan that they used for their meals which was awesome. They had delicious sake and the futon were very comfy to sleep on. They also had yukatas for us to wear. There are a lot of hiking trails nearby to enjoy if you like hiking. All in all, we have nothing bad to say about it!

We'd be waiting since spring but had to post-pone and absorb worth the wait. On a main road near the CT/MA border is this large eye catching Japanese estate. Glenn came out to greet us and our family to which we were promptly introduced to rockin' wife Yumi. (Apparently they're music lovers!!! đŸĒ• 🎸)

Dinner was prepared by Yumi and served by Glenn around 5:30 to 6 course traditional Japanese inn meal. Complete with complimentary plum ginger sake. Afterwards we relaxed until 7-8, put on our Yukatas (traditional inn robes) to the onsen (Japanese bath), prepared for us to partake it an ancient tradition, which is sadly rarely utilized anymore in Western culture, a bath. ♨ī¸ 🛀 Each room comes with a How To manual with instructions how to take a proper Japanese bath. Which is just worth everything in my opinion.

Steamed and loose, we enjoyed the evening playing Uno with some drinks and immediately fell asleep after returning to our beds. To wake with another traditional Japanese meal, breakfast!!! After which we parted ways and thanked Glenn & Yumi for a wonderful time.

I really wanted to stay there one more night.

If you want a unique experience in the country of Southern New England plucked from the mountains â›°ī¸ and valleys of Japan. Learn from people who want to share their love of another culture. We cannot wait to come back. 🙌đŸŧ

I cannot recommend this place enough, it's well worth the trip and cost. The owners are super friendly and welcoming, it really feels like you're stepping into Japan. I went here in 2018 with my mother and just recently went again with my mother and brother for his birthday, it was wonderful both times. The food is exquisite, the sleeping conditions are great, the bath is relaxing, and the atmosphere overall is fantastic. I literally have nothing bad to say about this place. 10/10 on all fronts!! <3

If you love traditional Japanese life, you would be crazy of it. They are just like our private chef and server. Quite and peaceful. The hot tub is amazing and huge. We stayed 3 days 2 nights on Nov. There are few farms nearby. Family can enjoy the rural peaceful time.

I booked O Gawa Shou a few months before our anniversary as a surprise for my boyfriend. Barely two weeks before our booked night, an unexpected event required us to reschedule. Glen and Yumi are so very gracious and understanding and rebooking was not a problem at all. ||||They were such a pleasure to deal with from the very start and made our anniversary get away everything we had hoped for. Knowing very little about Japanese culture, we were guided on the wearing of traditional Japanese robes, the proper protocol for baths, and felt comfortable throughout. ||||I highly recommend booking the dinner. Yumi's cooking skills are spectacular - the food was exquisite. The beautiful presentation tried, but couldn't surpass the simplicity and pureness of the flavors - so much better than anything I've ever had at any restaurant, Japanese or otherwise. I lost track of the number of times Glen indicated the ingredients were homegrown ingredients or direct from family in Japan. ||||We also thoroughly enjoyed the bath, soaking away weeks of stress. We have crazy busy schedules and to have the opportunity to escape to such a peaceful, tranquil place, even though for just one night, was such a treat. We look forward to going back when the weather is warm enough to walk through the gardens.

I stayed at O gawa shou with my husband and our 13-year-old daughter. We had a wonderful time. The owners are warm and friendly and the inn is a labor of love. Many years ago I stayed at a traditional inn in Japan and this is as close as you can get in the US. When you arrive, your hosts will offer you green tea and Japanese sweets. Our room was lovely, with two easy chairs that look over the traditional garden. We each took turns soaking in the bath and afterwards dressed in the traditional cotton robes for dinner. Dinner--and breakfast the following morning--was delicious, with a series of small dishes, all presented beautifully. My favorite dishes were the lotus root and green bean salad, the sweet potato and carrot tempura, and the mushroom soup (served in an individual teapot). In the morning, we walked around the property and my husband meditated on a bench overlooking the bubbling brook. Our daughter is very interested in Japanese culture and she was in heaven. There are many beautiful nature preserves, farms, and woods to explore nearby. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough!

The place is cozy. The spring is perfect and comfortable. The meals are so delicious that on the second day we cannot wait to have dinner. Every piece of meal that Glenn brought out from kitchen gave us a big surprise. Realized what "real" Japanese cuisine really taste like after visited. Would definitely come again and recommend. Yumi really got talent, thank you for having us.
