We had a wonderful time kayaking on Lake Superior. We lucked out on a beautiful July day and the water was very calm and extremely clear all the way to the lake bottom. It was very cool to see and touch the Pictured Rocks up close, we really got a better feel for how they became stained. We even got to see a shipwreck many feet below our kayak. We did a morning tour from Miner's Beach and happened to be the only ones booked on the tour so it was just us and 2 friendly guides. The office staff was lovely and very helpful as well. They provide all the kayaking gear you need, including a spray skirt (as opposed to a wetsuit) and jacket. Highly recommend!

After going on this tour as a family of 2 adults and 2 teens, we found it to be a great experience! The guides were friendly and helpful and obviously quite competent. Their experience and the small tour groups made it feel very safe. We also appreciated the extra touches of things provided at no extra cost (dry bags, sunscreen, bug spray, spray jackets, life jackets with a whistle, etc)
They provided clear and helpful Instructions if you are new to kayaking. On a calm day, it was not very strenuous.
The 4-hour, half-day tour felt a little bit short, but a great time while we were out.

Best Kayaking tour company I’ve ever used! I’ve kayaked in many places and used several companies but none compare to this one- they are professional, clean, organized, fun and patient! A group of 5 friends and I used them last weekend for a sunset tour, we were the only group. James and Roman were our tour guides, they did an exceptional job!!! James and Roman were THE BEST! We enjoyed our tour very much, they were patient with our group, informative, and fun! Our views were breathtaking, many have highly complimented my photos from this tour! The company has all the basic essentials you need for the tour, if you forgot something they are likely to have it available to you free of charge. Can’t write enough good things about them. Highly Recommend this company and our tour guides!!

Recommend Northern Adventures over all the other kayak rental companies. Only 8 people in our guided tour, much nicer than the over crowded 100 ppl In the other tours groups. Bobbi was extremely knowledgeable, lots of experience and super cool. Her Geology major came in handy with answering our many questions. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Vans, boats and all equipment clean and in great shape. We were offered bottled water and dry jackets to use at no extra charge (super helpful considering it was a cool August morning) Will use Northern Adventures again on our next trip.

We took the 6 hour trip to picture rock. There were four of us in our group and NWA gave us great information on what to wear and what to bring. First of all, the tour is absolutely amazing. Who would have thought such a beautiful place existed? We had two guides assisting us and they brought all of the boats and paddles to the beach and all we had to do was take their shuttle and load. Both guides spent the day providing local information, history of the rocks and we just a delight. We would consider doing this trip again on our next visit!

Fantastic Kayaking Company! We did the full day tour, and it was perfect. Not too tiring, but we saw much of the shore, and it was beautiful (pics to prove it!). Well trained guides, great equipment, and small groups - the two groups that went out in the morning had about 12 people each. Did my research into the four available kayak companies for Pictured Rocks, and was very happy with my selection- while their marketing is not the flashiest, it is only a testament to their down to earth dedication to a great, safe experience for their customers! They are taking precautions for COVID-19 (hand sanitizers, masks offered).+ Will be back to Pictured Rocks and will kayak with these guys again!

First time with Northern Waters and definitely wont be the last! My husband and I did the morning half tour and we both had a blast! I love that the company contacted us 2 days prior to reschedule because of bad weather, so we were able to make last minute changes with our travel plans. It worked out great because we had the perfect weather while we were out there. So thank you for prioritizing safety!!

Paul and Jake were awesome tour guides, they made the experience way better and took the time to get to know everyone. Cant say enough nice things about this company!

Pictured Rocks also lived up to its name, couldn't stop taking photos of everything and anything!

My husband and I were visiting the UP in August and were going to hike Pictured Rocks but after a foot injury decided to kayak instead and we are so glad we did! Northern Waters team was punctual, friendly and the guides were especially entertaining. Don't hesitate, book it before it sells out, the 4 pm outing was amazing!
