My wife and I came to Maxsell's for a last minute anniversary getaway. We were impressed to the max from start to finish! We checked into master suite which was cozy with a great view. The drinks were superb, and we had a blast getting to know the owners and some friends. My wife had the mushroom pasta and added shrimp and she raved about it. The fettuccine was al dente, sauce amazing. I had the Ribeye, and boy am I glad I did. It may have just been the best steak Ive had. Cooked a perfect medium rare, wonderfully seasoned and juicy...and a great, thick cut of meat. I would absolutely recommend it to any steak lover, and we would recommend Maxsell's for dinner and overnight. The sides, salads and dessert were all delicious as well and our waitress was great. Wonderful hosts, beautiful setting, and made for a perfect anniversary getaway! We will most definitely be back!

What a wonderful experience! The food was fabulous and the environment spectacular. We were a party of four and each of us marveled at how great our meal was. We were told to leave room for dessert, which happily we did as it was out of this world. Congratulations to the new chef and his wife a job well done! We plan on returning each time we are up visiting in the area.

My wife and I enjoy dining here every chance we get. The food is usually good and priced reasonably as compared to Chicago restaurants of the same caliber. During the summer, you can eat outside and enjoy the beauty of the lake. During the winter, the restaurant is nice and cozy. If you go there, definitely call to find out their hours of operation. One of the best restaurants in Florence, Wisconsin.

Really enjoyed this venue for my daughters baby shower recently. The venue was the Perfect backdrop to a Beautiful party. This meticulously renovated historic home has a patio over looking the beautiful Fischer Lake and a charming Carriage House. The owner was very gracious and more than accommodating to all our needs.

Great place to eat & spend the night! The food is amazingly delicious & the friendly staff makes the experience that much more enjoyable. And if you partake in one too many of the tasty cocktails you can check into a room above the restaurant. The atmosphere of the entire place is warm & welcoming. We will definitely be back!

We had been considering dining at Maxsell's for a few years, but the reviews put us off. Then we saw the new ownership sign.||We elected to dine outdoors, despite the stiff breeze. A photo of Maxsell's patio should be in the dictionary next to "ambience". In all my travels across this country and Europe, I have seldom dined in such a beautiful setting.||The menu is small, and when one offers only a few dishes, they must be absolutely perfect. They are. We split a flatbread appetizer, covered with roasted red peppers, carmelized onions, and mushrooms, then drizzled with a balsamic vinegar reduction. Perfectly seasoned, just the right size for two to share.||Atypically, we both felt like having beef, so we ordered two 6 ounce tenderloins, medium-rare. This is also an acid test of a chef - will the meat be cooked to the correct degree?||Not only were both tenderloins exactly medium rare, I could tell they had been allowed to rest properly before being served. They were tender and very flavorful, as well, another rarity up here.||Accompanying the meat were the silkiest garlic mashed potatoes I have ever eaten, topped with fresh asparagus expertly steamed and seasoned to the exact right degree. Although we had asked for a salt shaker, we did not need it.||Maxsell's wine list is small, but so is the list of world-class luxury cars, and both are fabulous. I was delighted to be able to get a Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon by the glass. The wine selections have been chosen with quality and pairing in mind, and flawlessly done.||Dessert should be a grand finale, and it was definitely that. As with everything else on the menu, all the desserts are made on the premises. I opted for the mango sorbet, and received a dish of frozen tropical perfection. Simply exquisite. ||My husband chose the Banana-chocolate-almond bread pudding with salted carmel ice cream. This is easily the most perfect bite of dessert I have ever tasted. The homemade ice cream had perfect consistency, and just the right balance of carmel and salt. The bread pudding - a just right-sized portion - is decadence on a plate. This alone would be worth our 45 minute drive to Maxsell's. Rich but not overly so, served warm with the lovely ice cream on top. The perfect finish to the best meal I have had north of Green Bay.||Service - very good, prompt, thoughtful, personable.||Bottom line: Maxsell's new ownership knows what they are doing, and the cuisine is well worth driving long distances. Bon appetit!|

It had been many years since we ate here, but decided to give it a try with visiting family. What a wonderful experience. It was a beautiful evening so we sat on the patio, over looking the lake. The food was excellent! As was the service. Can't wait to go there again.

Great quality and service! New ownership seems to be doing good things. They had a table ready for our party of 8, and Erica kept us happy with wine, water refills, and prompt food. Swedish meatball appetizer was wonderful, as was chicken marsala. Fresh meats and fishes, and fantastic specials. Menu is a tad limited, but they were perfectly accommodating with gluten- and dairy- intolerances.
