THIS WAS SO FUN!!! The museum is jam-packed with information and fantastic collections. The escape room piece was brilliant; the puzzles, lock combinations, and educational tidbits were exciting and challenging, yet well-marked. My partner and I arrived on time for our appointment, knocked on the door three times, and the volunteer representative happily greeted us and told us all about the museum. It was wonderful to have someone so enthusiastically welcoming and engaging give us a tour. Then, when we completed the escape room, we were given a special and most delightful surprise! I recommend this experience to anyone eager to learn about locking mechanisms by a hands-on approach and thrilled by an expertly-crafted escape room!

This museum is open only a handful of days per year but you can call and make an appointment to see it - which is what we did. We went on the scheduled day and got an excellent tour of the entire museum. They have an amazing collection of locks, from ancient times to the present. I highly recommend this museum!

The website indicates that the museum is only open a few days per year, otherwise by appointment. I was there on one of those days that it is to be open (June 21, 2024, 1:30-4:00pm) along with a few other people. The door was locked and no sign was posted indicating it was closed. We waited about 20 minutes and then left. I called the number on the website and was told that they weren't going to be open that day because a volunteer called in sick. It would have been a nice courtesy to update your site and to have a sign on the door indicating that it would not open. Could have saves some folks a drive. I guess I will try again on August 16th.

We went for the escape room and it was fun, so was looking through the museum! Very hands on, lots of locks to open and see!

We had a wonderful time as a family learning about, exploring and going through the escape room experience at the Lock Museum. It was really well done. The craftsmanship of the mechanisms is absolutely incredible. Our docent was kind, generous and very knowledgeable. We all had our favorite pieces in the end. A true gem found in CT. Absolutely recommend a visit!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit tonight. The host shared some really cool history with us and made the experience exceptional. It was challenging enough to really dig in and think, but not impossible to figure out. This place is the very definition of adventure and the memories you will come away with are priceless.

Don't let the outside fool you. The inside is full of some awesome displays. Very interesting museum.

The Museam is packed with items from all time periods and places, with one space dedicated to the lock factory that used to stand across the street.

There is an escape room that can be booked and it is of moderate to hard difficulty. It also takes place in the exhibits and gives you a fun reward at the end.

The Museam is staffed by volunteers, but they were very professional during our visit.
