I haven't stayed at this inn but want to deeply appreciate the kind gesture of someone who works/worked here(whose name I sadly don't recall), he offered to accommodate four of us stuck in sever snow storm in mid January 2025 on the way back to Boston from Montreal by car. Despite some renovation work happening at the inn, he agreed to offer accomodation after hearing our situation over the phone. We ended up moving forward to Boston despite the storm but wanted to say BIG THANK YOU for your kind gesture while every other hotels shut the door on us that night. I wish I could stay at this inn someday. God bless you!

Though I stayed here back in 2018 I wasn't given the option to choose that date, but my review is the same! Its been almost 5 years since I stayed here while visiting New London on a Christmas getaway from Alabama. It had a beautiful view with fresh snow everywhere! I loved the fire pit that it had in true Southern fashion, I always love a good fire! The rooms were cozy and made to feel like in home in my opinion vs the way every other hotel now has updated everything to a sometimes uncomfortable setting. This place was great and the owner was super friendly as well! It was located right by the stores and little shopping center so that was convenient as well. Id definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a place to make you feel at home.

My husband, me and daughter spent 2 nights here to attend our son's graduation and everything was absolutely perfect! Check-in with Lee was very smooth and he was friendly and made us feel at home. We met George, later that afternoon and he was just AWESOME!!! He brought us to the college on a couple of occasions and even to our son's friendship family for dinner. Early the morning of the graduation, George brought us again complimentary. The room was very clean and we had fresh coffee, teas, muffins, yogurts and fruits in the mornings. Our little one was also able to get her hot chocolate. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, my only regret was that we did not find it on our previous two visits to New London!!!.

We stayed 5 days and absolutely loved our stay. The room was clean and had great amenities. The bathroom, furniture, and appliances were a bit dated but very clean and everything was in top shape. We were within walking distance to several restaurants, Bucklin Beach on Little Sunapee, and downtown New London. ||||You simply can't beat the staff. They are as friendly as it gets. I don't often go out of my way to post a review, but our stay was very pleasant, affordable, and convenient. We will be recommending the Lamplighter any chance we get.||||Pros: Location, Price, Staff, Amenities||||Cons: I'll note that the buildings themselves are a bit dated, but very clean, safe, and comfortable, but it's difficult to call this a negative as it added to the ambiance of the entire stay.

Have stayed here numerous times but most recently about a year ago. The owners are friendly and welcoming and the rooms, though a bit dated, are clean and comfortable and HUGE!!! Rates are reasonable and unless Colby-Sawyer College has a reunion, its available with plenty of rooms. I will be back up at the college for a reunion in the fall and can't wait to visit the Lamplighter. Highly recommend a visit if you are going to be up in the New London area.

My husband and I were returning from a getaway vacation in Montreal with our two children. We were in basically the middle of nowhere when it began to rain and sleet. The roads started getting icy and we were concerned that we would not make it safely back to Massachusetts. We took a chance on the first lodging that we saw....the Lamplighters Motor Inn. George the proprietor could not have been nicer! He got us a room and gave my husband directions to pick up dinner. He even gave us some real wine glasses ( I think from his own home) so that we would not have to drink out of the plastic cups. He told us not to worry about check out time if the roads were still icy in the morning. The facility is old, but neat and well maintained. We felt safe there and it turned a scary evening into a fun little side adventure for my kids. If you happen to be in the New London area, I 100% recommend staying there! Thank you so much!!!

The owners were very flexible and patient with my itinerary since it ended up changing multiple times before arriving. They provided excellent hospitality and customer service. I’m very appreciative that they let me change my plans multiple times since I was in town for a wedding and my head was all over the place! Would definitely come back.

This is a really lovely, clean and affordable place to stay. Within biking distance to the lake and walking distance to downtown. We had a great and hospitable adventure in New London, NH a few months ago!
I'll also add that the front desk attendant was very friendly, considerate and helpful. Wishing him and the Lamplighter Motor Inn a happy fall and upcoming winter.
