We visited in late September and the sunset over the lake was gorgeous. Highly recommend the second seating for dinner, which we booked, but we're told to eat with the first instead -- this was a huge mistake as we spent the entire sunset time inside instead of being able to walk around the boat and take in the beauty. By the time we left the dinner table it was after sunset, got a quick glimpse of the final moments of dusk, before listening to Shac, Mac, and the Rhythm Attack finish off the evening, who were very entertaining. Food was meh. Drinks were great.

Overall this was a pleasant experience. It definitely had some fairly mediocre moments but it was one of the only sunset boat ride options on Lake Tahoe.

Pros: there was free parking at the cove. They started loading right at 5:30pm. The food was decent. The view and the sunset was nice. The boat had plenty of space. Staff was friendly and inviting.

Cons: You are seated with other people if you are a group smaller than 6. So if that’s something you aren’t in to I’d avoid this. You need to get in line to get on the boat first so you don’t get seated in the middle of the dining area. The food is okay, it’s sort of like banquet wedding food. Not bad not great. The boat trip is sort of a bit long depending on what time of year you go. Once the sunset set at 7:20 we rode in the dark all the way home until about 9:30. This trip may be best in the height of summer when the sun sets later. The live band was - nice - but not very good. Alcoholic beverages cost more and that comes with the need to tip on food and the drinks. So expect to pay more than the ticket prices.

Overall this wasn’t a bad experience it just wasn’t great either. It was relaxing. It definitely just had its sort of odd moments. It’s a do it once and never again type thing.

We went in early October and sunset is about 6:30 pm so be aware that you are eating during sunset. The steak smelled fantastic and was served with brown gravy on it. The staff were friendly. They had a 2 piece band playing which was nice however, no one was dancing. Take a jacket if you want to star gaze as it was cool on deck.

We had an incredible time on the MS Dixie!!! The food was some of the best food I've ever eaten and that's no joke! Steak, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. So dang good. The boat ride was awesome as well! We went down around Nanette's Tea Shop in Emerald Bay. It had beautiful sites and beautiful weather.

Very beautiful cruise 🛳 on the lake! Hopefully, they can make the cruise last longer though? Possibly, have the boat stop in the middle of the lake near the small island?
Great food service on the MS Dixie also! Many of these pictures are on the way down to the lake actually!
Just traveling from Reno, down to Lake Tahoe CA, was equally awesome and breath taking! 😎 🙏🏼🥂

Amazing Tour! I would recommend to anyone visiting Lake Tahoe. The inside of the boat is super nice for a tour boat. It is set up banquet style and each passenger has their own individual table by the window. They have an open bar and bar food as well. During the winter the second and third deck are cold and windy but offer beautiful views!! Spend the $ and book the tour! You will not regret it.

Amazing dinner cruise experience. The food was delicious & our server was friendly. This is the best way to see the lake in Tahoe. We watched the sunset in Emerald Bay after dinner. Then watched the stars as we listened to the band play "brown eyed girl, pretty women, La bomba & ect.". The cruise was breathtaking & romantic.

This cruise enhanced our visit to Lake Tahoe! The views were beautiful and breathtaking!😍🤩 It was so cool to sail so close to and learn about the defunct tea house sitting on the solo island in Emerald Bay! I am very grateful for the opportunity to sail in the unforgettable Emerald Bay.
