So- I am not an experienced kayaker- so why not try Lake Superior 🤷‍♀️ Ha! When we went, it was choppy. So needles to say I was freaking out a bit. The caves were small and not what you see out at the Apostle Islands. Our guide was helpful and calm with me, which was appreciated.

The administrative flaws of the business gave me some trepidation preceding the tour (limited communication, unprofessional review responses etc).

Thankfully our tour guide James was an absolute legend, very knowledgeable about the history of the area. His enthusiasm for the great lakes area was infectious.

The Houghton point sea caves are quite modest, but since the lake level has dropped significantly since last year there are tons of fun cracks and crannies you can squeeze into!

5 star tour, 2 star administration 🤙

*Red Cliffs & Purple Caves*

We had an fantastic time! The weather was perfect- the lake was calm and glassy- the guide was witty and helpful. We had our 4 kids with (ages 24-20-16-14) with varied levels of paddling experience (2 had never been in a kayak). By the end of the tour, they were all “pros” 😉 The distance (about 3 miles) was very doable, the caves were gorgeous. Thank you for helping my family make some amazing memories!!

The location is pretty. However, there was only 1 cave to go into and we couldn’t go into because of the waves. Not a informative guided tour if that is what you’re looking for not sure what was the red cliff or the purple cave. Equipment was decent, plan on getting wet. Kayak had puddles on the seat’s and floor upon arrival. Also tour was less than 2 hours.

Wonderful experience. Weather was beautiful at the 4:00 trip. Guide was knowledge, personable, and full of interesting facts. Felt very safe and the guide did just a great job at teaching all skill levels. Highly recommend!
