I do not know if we have met a nicer group of people at a tourist site. Everyone was genuinely happy and proud to be working and sharing their history. True dedication, which is something more of our world could use right now. It was a very interesting history lesson.

A very sad place for these individuals who where just trying to live good and to be forced out of their homes to walk across the frozen Mississippi River towards SLC.

My daughter and I got to walk in the historic footsteps of Joseph Smith and the Early LDS Church. Memories are made here between families and relatives. Beautiful place.

The homes of Joseph and Emma Smith. No photos allowed inside. They are owned by the Church of Christ, previously the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We rode here from Bishop, California on our motorcycles. I remember seeing it on a map and wondering, "Who names a town Nauvoo in the Midwest?" What a discovery. Operated by the Community of Christ Church, they conduct an excellent historic tour of Joseph and Emma Smith's home, the surrounding area and the history preceding the events that led to Brigham Young and 1,600 members of the Church of the LDS to head west, thirteen-hundred miles to Utah. Nauvoo marks the beginning of the Young's route and the Mormon Trail, Nauvoo to Utah. Excellent bookstore.

They have kept quite a few pieces of authentic artifacts for Joseph Smith. Combine that with interesting history of the area, Nauvoo is like traveling back in time.

The tour guides are so nice! Unlike many of the sites in the area, these homes are owned by Community of Christ, not The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But they are always so nice here and because of this tour, we’ve discovered the absolutely amazing root beer at the red brick store!

This was interesting to visit. We had to pay a $4 fee to go on this tour which was fine but it was not better than the free tours from the LDS Church. There was good information and we got to see the home which was in the typical style of the time.
