Great stop! Friendly staff greeted us and shared conversation about neighboring parks and areas. Very knowledgeable. Park visitor center is nicely appointed and there are plenty of walking trails, picnic spaces, and learning to be had.

We had a great time here. I mainly wanted to take the fam hiking. We did the 2.5 mile loop trail around the park which included a nice hike along the Tallapoosa River. The trail did have some challenges but we hiked it with 3 girls 11,9, and 8 and they killed it. The grounds are beautiful and the battle sites and museum were interesting as well but also sad since this battle was about Andrew Jackson trying to oust the Creek Indians.

This is a beautiful, well-maintained park. There is much to learn regarding the history of this area & the fierce battles fought in this location. It was an extremely moving experience. If you enjoy nature, scenic hiking trails, & learning about historic events, I highly recommend Horseshoe Bend.

Great place, but just so everyone knows, the visitor center is closed on Monday and Tuesdays every week. There's a sign on the door today and it IS stated on the NPS site.
I didn't know and was disappointed when I arrived.

It was closed, and has been since Feb 2020. The good news, it will open in May 3 2021. A park ranger was kind enough to stamp my national parks passport book.
