Poorest of communication and false advertising. Was at the closing for a used auto loan thinking I was getting as quoted many times for the last week a 5.74% interest rate and I asked to make sure that was what I was signing off on and they told me I was at a 9.5%. Never in that week long process was I told that, they were going to have me close without ever disclosing that information to me.

This review is for the Stanford Springs Branch specifically. After a very difficult start to the week, I traveled to this branch to resolve a banking issue with my car loan and was assisted by an absolute angel that went above and beyond out of her way to help me. I wish I had caught her name but in my fluster all I could do was thank her profusely. I am forever grateful for her kindness.

In these hard times when people are struggling to pay for food gas and rent most institutions are eliminating over draft and NSF fees. However Not Hartford Federal instead they continue to charge excessive fees and don't offer help when you are struggling. 35 dollars used to be a weeks worth of groceries or a tank of gas. Not in today's economy. But getting hit with that fee still hurts all the same.

Hartford federal will close your account if you can't pay all the fees.

Under there own "Benefits of Membership" page they say under "Value"
,"We act in your best interest and use our earnings to benefit our members:... fewer and lower fees,..."

They say that but there Fees are Higher than the average now.

Many big banks have eliminated Overdraft fees and NSF fees, Like Citibank, Capital One, and Ally. Even Bank of America Eliminated NSF Fees but reduced there Overdraft to $10. Key bank even reduced there fees.

Some of these banks lost a $100 million plus revenue stream from this. But they did it to help those who where struggling.

Why can't Hartford federal do the same thing?

Instead they pray on the those just barely scraping by.

Even a single $35 fee hurts. Thats at least 2 hours of work for most of us.

Their fees are terrible and a robbery. The people that work there are nice as can be but the bank itself is terrible.

Everyone here is so friendly and you are never ignored or treated like a nuisance as is typical with big banks. Rates are excellent too
