This was wonderful! The staff here are fantastic people.

The tour starts with some quick safety info, history of the area, and leads into electrically assisted pedalcarts or pushcarts (depending on your choice of ticket). The carts are comfortable and easy to use.

The route follows a bike trail and has lovely views of the ocean. They stop for a break halfway, then route back to the beginning. About an hour and a half overall. I had a really nice time. Even on a busy weekend. I wish them success.

This was awesome! Dress in layers! Or visit a gift shop because it's cold! Zero effort required, it moves on its own ?. Sit back & enjoy the ride. Or if you have kids/ or are athletic pedal your heart out. Either way 3 miles out & 3 back again. The young man built these himself wayy impressive. My boys are obsessed with everything train. They can click two units together, optimal for a family. I can't say enough. So much fun!

What a great experience. The weather was perfect and the view was spectacular. The crew was easy going and I love the backstory in how they started. I’m sad that they their lease is up in October. I hope they continue with it.

This was such a splendid surprise and a fun thing to do while in Monterey! It’s a family business and it all started with a 12-year-old who built hand cars, now they are all handbuilt. It’s a really fun experience and don’t worry if you don’t think you can do it for 6 miles they have electrically powered ones as well, where you can still pedal if you want to go faster, but if not, it will take you along! The top of the Mountain View was the best. I highly recommend going first because I feel like we had more time up there. But I’m sure everyone’s timing is the same. I feel like we had about 10 to 15 minutes to take pictures and videos. If you’re thinking about doing this, definitely do it sooner than later. Dress appropriately, they do have two porta potties so use the bathroom before and after you get there somewhere if you don’t like porta potties, and plenty of parking! They are also very nice and welcoming as well. And you get a fun little intro beforehand too so definitely be on time!

What a great experience! Totally fascinating quality rail cars. Some are hand powered, the other type is pedal powered with electric power assist. As long as the right hand pedals are turning the power assist kicks in.

Gorgeous views along the 3mls route. Nice stop at the turn around loop with views of Monterrey, and the bay.

A "must do" experience.

We had an absolute blast on our Handcar Tours adventure in Marina! As a relatively new business, Handcar Tours has done an incredible job of restoring old railroad tracks and offering unique handcar experiences. It's a fantastic way to connect with the history of the region while enjoying a fun and active outdoor activity.

The handcars themselves are well-maintained and operate smoothly, making it easy to pedal along the scenic route. We loved learning about the history of the railroad and the surrounding area from the owner himself. The experience was truly unforgettable.

I hope Handcar Tours continues to thrive and expand in the future. I can't wait to see what improvements and new experiences they have in store. A huge shoutout to the team for their hardwork and dedication in bringing this unique attraction to life!
Tip: Wear layers, bring water and,
for kids bring snacks too they have a small cubby for storage.

Wanted something a little different and we got it here. The handcarts, to me, we a wonderful twist on taking a spin class. We petaled ourselves on the six mile ride, with a motorized assist that made it no harder than taking a brisk walk. It was excellent. Going out in the morning fog, it was very comfortable, and fog had cleared when we got to the Vista point. Great outing for any age.
