What a great way to dive into some of the history of this magical place. The reenactment of the indigenous tribes and euro-american explorers was awesome. The sound effects in the theatre rumbled in boomed as the explorers floated the rapids. Watching "John Powell" dive and ascend over waves was intense and jaw dropping. Who knew he was missing half of an arm!

The aerial/drone shots were breathtaking and gave us an even closer look at the natural wonder.

We were hoping that the film would go more in depth to the formation of the canyon. They covered it in about 1 min. If you want to know more details about the Paleozoic rocks and different layers, visit the Yavapai Geology Museum inside the park

Warning to those who have a vestibular/balance disorder. Some parts of movie involve rapid, fly-through panoramic scenes which may trigger nausea or other issues for you. Closing your eyes at those times may help. Narration was nice but movie was not for me. Suggest they add a warning when you buy tickets.

Stopped by on way to Grand Canyon to purchase the pass in automated machine. Got pointed to Grand Canyon Visitor Center. Great place, lots of foood places.

This movie was too scary for my kids (ages 6 and 4). Totally good and entertaining for adults. But weeks afterward, my daughter is still scared thinking of the movie. I didn't check the content in advance (so that was my fault), but I thought it would be about the geology and nature of the Grand Canyon. Instead: it had a scene with violence between prehistoric people of the Canyon. And the scenes with Powell and his team boating down the river were scary for my kids. There were also guns and gun shots. So, this 1 star review is mostly just to help other parents avoid my mistake and maybe the theater could consider content notifications, especially for groups with young children.

Movie was ok, but it's not mostly about the formation. Biggest part is about Powell exploring the canyon on the Colorado which was educational. Decent gift shop. Clean. Order tickets online for some savings.

Bit of a tourist trap, but the IMAX movie is great! Check the schedule before you go. It's currently a 35 minute movie playing every hour, on the half hour, so you can be waiting there up to an hour if you hit it wrong. It's enter and exit through the gift shop.

Don't miss the show here, if you ever come to Grand Canyon! Breathtaking visuals and experience watching this on massive IMAX screen. Also watch this before you go to the Canyons... Would give you a real history and perspective of Canyons especially for foreigners!!!

Also a nice place to grab some decent Asian food specifically Rice Bowl 🙂

Gran canyon imax was pretty touristy. Had to wind way through gift shop to get to theatre. Movie rather old and spends much of time on white man's trip through rapids.
