my first trip with Gohagan was Vietnam( last November) and i am i just coming back from Japan. Both trips were incredibly well planned and organized. we visited beautiful places, the excursions, the service, the food and the lectures were excellent. we enjoyed every minute of both trips.
The Gohagan service was outstanding from the beginning until the end!
looking forward to my next trip with Gohagan!!

Horrible Experience – Avoid Gohagan & Company!

If I could give Gohagan & Company zero stars, I would. This was by far the worst travel experience I have ever had, and I didn’t even get to go on the trip!

I booked a trip with them early, securing my reservation in July 2024 for an April 2025 departure. I paid the full balance of $8,326.40 via credit card, trusting that this company was reliable. Big mistake.

Two months before departure, they canceled my trip due to “overbooking.” How does a supposedly professional travel company overbook a trip that was planned months in advance? They provided alternative options, but after this experience, I want nothing to do with them.

On top of that, their customer service was absolutely terrible. Every interaction was frustrating—they were dismissive, unhelpful, and completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they repeatedly called my father by the wrong name, showing just how little attention they pay to their customers.

While they did refund my money, that doesn’t make up for the stress, disappointment, and complete lack of reliability. I will never book with Gohagan & Company again, and I strongly advise others to stay far away unless you enjoy last-minute cancellations and dealing with a company that doesn’t care about its customers.

Best mother/daughter trip ever!! My mom took a short flight from Atlanta to Costa Rica and I met her there after three flights from Wyoming.. then we traveled down the coast of Costa Rica and through the Panama Canal on a beautiful, small French cruise ship. Amazing food and service!! The lectures were very informative and interesting. My daily debate was whether to listen to an afternoon lecture or lie by the pool… the lectures always won. Saw dolphins and turtles swimming alongside our boat! I even had my hair done going through the Panama Canal… while drinking a mojito! This cruise was so great that I booked another one with my history buff husband to visit Normandy with David Eisenhower!!! I may just become a “cruiser.”… and that’s fine by me!

I took two excursions with Gohagan this year. April to French Polynesia, and July to Alaska. Both trips are were carefully planned and executed perfectly. The service, scenery, cuisine, and care were excellent. Can’t wait to travel with them again!

When you spend decades dreaming about a trip to Antarctica it's going to be tough to meet and exceed expectations, and yet that is exactly what Gohagen & Company did. The programs and excursions were well organized and not rushed. I look forward to booking my next trip with Gohagen!

Experiencing Antarctica with Gohagan was a dream come true. Trip leaders Matt and his team, as well as the ship's crew, paid great attention to detail. I had never been on a cruise before and this experience exceeded any expectations. The food was amazing, and the wildlife and scenery are unparalleled. Furthermore, you gain a deeper understanding of the importance of maintaining a balance and preserving our wild places.

Ok, I’ll admit it - we are foodie, experienced global travelers and would never have considered taking a cruise except that we still had the Greek Isles on our bucket list and some good friends suggested Gohagan.

We booked the Greek Island tour on the Bougainville boat through Gohagan, and this was a 10/10 trip for us. The best compliment we can give is that we will definitely be booking with them in the future.

First, the boat: small, luxurious Ponant French line.

Second, the room and service: first class large room with private balcony and butler who catered to our every need/desire.

Third, the dining: top notch with multi-course formal meals, plenty of options, beer and wine.

Fourth, the program: Great tours with educated professional guides, as well as follow-up lectures by knowledgeable professors.

Fifth, the people: passengers typically book through university alumni groups, so you’re surrounded by very smart, sophisticated and engaging fellow travelers who are there to learn as much as relax. Amazing conversations had and friends made.

Overall, this trip changed our view on what a cruise can be and we will be back for more adventures soon.

Please use caution if you are planning a trip with Gohagan & Company out of Chicago, Illinois. My husband and and I booked an alumni trip to Italy through this company for May 2020. Due to the pandemic, the trip was postponed twice, like so many other trips. No refund was given, so we rebooked the trip for May 2022, hopeful that we would be able to travel this year. Our communication with the office over the previous 6 months was lacking with no response to emails or phone calls trying to confirm the trip. Without warning, Gohagan Travel canceled our trip to Italy 11 days before departure via email. Again, no response to emails or phone calls. A refund was promised this time within 7-10 days. Once we hit the 21 day mark, I called and emailed every day. Never once did anyone return my calls or emails. I did reach a “passenger services advocate” on the phone twice who tried to help, but put me off with “the check is in the mail”. After 7 weeks, We finally received our refund of thousands of dollars that the company held for over 2 years. I understand the travel industry was hit hard by the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Beyond that, the communication and customer service of this particular company was abysmal. I will never use their travel service again. Side note: we were able to recreate the itinerary at the last minute and we saved $3000! We had a wonderful trip to Italy on our own.
