My mom booked a $15k trip with Ford’s for a european river cruise. They wanted $3k to insure the trip which ahe declined because she has coverage through Allianz. She had a major accident 30+ days before departure and Viking would only give back 25%. I asked if they would escalate or give a credit for 12 months. Agent made one call in my presence and said nothing could be done. Why would anyone use a travel agency if there is no extra service when it’s really needed? With the 25% and the Allianz refund my mom still loses over $6k. Will not let my mom use this agency going forward. Why would anyone?
UPDATE: The owner called me to discuss my review. He suggested my review was not clear (now it is) in that Viking retained the money lost, not Ford’s. However, the owner still was unwilling to offer even a small credit towards future travel in an effort to keep my mother as a customer. He was kind and the conversation was cordial. However, this still proves my point that there was no value in using an agency vs finding a deal on the web.

I want you to imagine a scenario with me

An unattached, childless bachelor with an obscene amount of disposable income and even more obscene amount of free time walks through your front doors asking about your services. He offers himself on a silver platter and outright says "sell me on your services" and the employee he's talking to says "no."

How quickly would you fire them for being an utter failure at their jobs? I pitched the ball RIGHT down home plate, and she didn't even swing.

"Sell me on a package."

"No."

"Have a good day maam."

That pretty much sums up my experience here. I asked what they did, they said they offered Travel packages, I invited her to sell me on one, or even describe one to me, and she outright refused. So I showed myself out.

It was surreal. It would be like a millionaire walking onto a Ford lot with a suitcase of cash on hand and saying "I want one of those brand new raptors you have parked at front" and the salesman he's talking to just saying "no."

I am not giving you a one star review because I was personally hurt or offended by anything, I actually found it weirdly hilarious, I'm sharing so everyone knows this business is going bankrupt with salesperson like this so don't bother.

I have had the pleasure of using the services of Fords World Travel for several years. I have used other agencies, but they just didn't have the service and knowledge of other agencies. I have found in our years of service when a person writes they were "Treated Horribly" it was because of them and NOT the services they wanted from the firm or its staff. I could not be in their position trying to handle and be polite to someone who is demanding and complaining for some unrealistic demands of the customer. I have seen customers scream and hell their stateroom was interior, and I remember then when they had booked a cruise the agent was asking them if they knew the meaning of an inside stateroom, and couldn't be bothered look at the stateroom, because they knew all the answers. In case they were returning from a recent cruise and were screaming about their stateroom lacked not even a port hole. Therefor when I read "Treated Horribly" I understand perfectly who was at fault.

Outstanding travel agency. I have worked with Dan for four years on several trips and have always been delighted with the results. Dan takes the time to understand our interests, needs, and, importantly, our quirks. Not once has anything gone wrong that he, or his staff been in control of. I highly recommend this most competent agency.

Was treated horribly. Mary Schroeder was very rude. When I walked in at 3:45pm, she looked at the clock and rolled her eyes plus she had an attitude . Um excuse Me! You get paid for this, if it wasn't for us customers you wouldn't have a pay check. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO THERE.
