Enjoyed our experience with Fairbanks Trails and Rivers tour. John picked us up at our hotel and took us for an afternoon of sight seeing and dog sledding on a beautiful albeit short winter day (3 hours and 41 minutes of daylight). Powdery snow covered trees and ground making everything look like a winter wonderland. The dogs were delightful and energetic. The sled ride was definitely a trip highlight. John was always conscientious and helpful, loaning me crampons to slip onto the bottom of my boots to give me traction walking up and down the slope to the dog kennel. He also provided handwarmers to slip in between my glove liners and gloves. Despite the temperature being below 0, we weren’t cold and were adequately dressed for the climate and sled ride. John took and airdropped videos and photos of us dogsledding as well as portraits with mountains in background. He is a knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. Would go with FT & R tours again.

My twin sister and I took a snow shoe tour with John O’Brien of Fairbanks Trails and Rivers Tour Company in February. He picked us up at our hotel, and we went to the slopes of Murphy Dome. The views were incredible, and we walked almost 5 miles! The snow shoes themselves were lightweight and easy to maneuver – not the snow shoes of yesteryear! John was a delightful host, pointing out snowshoe hare and moose tracks along with different kinds of vegetation. He was kind enough to take loads of photos so that we had proof of our adventure. We highly recommend Fairbanks Trails & River Tour Company!

I'm a travel concierge and I booked mountain biking with Fairbank Trail and River and they love there tour. John was great with communication and great guide by taking care of the clients. They love it! Wish they would have time to do dog sledding with them but if you in Fairbank book with them whether it for mountain biking or dog sledding or any tour they offer.

I went on an Aurora tour end of season. I was the only one (because it was end of season) but they gladly still took me out bc light activity was decent. I had such a great time and did happen to catch a glimpse of the lights. John and Kellie are professional and you can tell they love sharing the beauty that Alaska has to offer with you. I plan to visit again and book the nighttime hiking in the summer and aurora tour next season.

Kellie and John made our Fairbanks trip special, we just had a awesome time learning about Fairbanks and AK in general. They are extremely knowledgeable about the native critters and indigenous peoples. John really strives to meet the needs of the particular cliental which was greatly appreciated. The pictures of aurora, moose and caribou and just the mountain ranges in general were spectacular. We would definitely recommend Kellie and John as guides if you are planning a trip to Fairbanks AK.

I did not take a tour with John and his company but I can attest to his altruistic character. My boyfriend and I's car was stuck in deep snow at Murphy's Dome. John saw us struggling from far away and lent us his shovel to try to dig our way out. When more people came to the viewpoint, he gathered a group of volunteers to help push our car out and it worked! We were extremely grateful for John's help.

We did the dog mushing and aurora tours with John, and it was the highlight of our trip to Fairbanks! The mushing company he chose to use was run by good people, and the dogs seemed very happy and well cared for. John was friendly and knowledgeable, and pleasant company for sitting in a van while waiting to spot the aurora. It did end up coming out and put on a pretty stunning display. And thanks to John, we even came away from the experience with a greater appreciation for Alaskan poetry!
