Elyria Canyon Park is a lovely, relatively remote area for a peaceful hike with one's four-legged companion. True, the vegetation is not over-manicured however, this allows for a sense of privacy and plenty of opportunity for a vigorous workout. In the center of Mount Washington, this treasure enables one to become back in tune with nature, all while enjoying modified trails. It is, however, quite a challenge to find a parking spot, even though the sparse street spots and the designated dirt lot can most often accommodate visitors. Nevertheless, some might get turned off by the overgrown trails and lack of amenities and opt for locations such as Rio De Los Angeles or Elysian that have their sites in better order. Overall, there is something different about Elyria Canyon Park up in the mountains for the solace seekers from the city.

Hidden gem of open space inside Mount Washington neighborhood of Northeast LA City. Absolutely lovely place to take a deep breath and reconnect with nature. Moderate challenge on some portions for the average person.

Parking MAY be available at a designated dirt lot off of WOLLAM STREET. Otherwise, there are SPARSE street parking spots along a tight residential street ELYRIA DRIVE.

Open space. No amenities (except a cute bench). Absolutely pack in and pack out all garbage and pet waste.

Strange park for sure. The trails are quite overgrown, a lot of tall weeds and overhanging branches to move out if your way. I’m sure this is a great area for those who live here but I would never come out of my way to visit here again. Once you get a little higher up the views are ok. It’s mostly disappointing that this is a pretty short walk. Note, there is no designated parking. The streets leading up are narrow and there is only street parking on one side. You are much better off going to Rio De Los Angeles, LA Historic, or Elysian.

Parked and entered at the end of Elyria Dr. It’s a quick stroll through the park but quite lovely with all the greenery from the rains. Lupine, wild cucumber, daisies. Worth a visit if you’re already in the area or simply need a new park to check out.

I’m staying in an Airbnb close to Elyria Canyon park. I thought to myself I’ll just do a quick loop run to get in a good workout for the morning.

I’m happy I ran up so many Vermont mountains! That run was great! You will climb fast as you ascend to the top of the park. Check out the photos, fantastic views.

The trails don’t have a clear direction pointing to them from the way I came in, but at the bottom it’s pretty self explanatory.

If you are in the area it’s worth climbing to the top! It’s not the most magnificent view but it is beautiful.

A good, quiet place to hike with the pups. It's common to be the only one out here. In terms of vegetation it’s not the most manicured park whatsoever so be prepared to clear out some brush. It's peaceful and a solid calorie burner.
