BEWARE - BED BUGS

I stayed in room 232 for one night, checked in Feb 5 later afternoon, checked out Feb 6 at around 7am.

On Feb 6 at around 10am (while airborne) my skin started to itch. Over the next 2-3 hours red bumps in lines/clusters started to appear on my upper torso, upper back, both arms (lower and upper), both hands, face, and neck. I looked up the cause- BED BUG BITES. I called the hotel on Feb 6 to report the bed bug issue, the attendant said that “nobody had complained about that before”, then took my name, phone number, and email and said that management would be in touch. I offered to send pictures of the bed bug bites on my body.
I called on Feb 7 in the morning to request a full refund and was told to call later when the manager would be in the office. I offered to send pictures of the bed bug bites on my body, once more.
I called again on Feb 10 and was told “oh yes, the notes are here”. I said “I have not received a call from management. I will post a review relating this bed bug bite incident.” The attendant said “do what you have to do”, and that was that.
And so here we are with this review. I had to seek medical assistance, as I had an allergic reaction to the bed bug bites. The bites turned into blisters, which started to burst about 36-48 hours after the bites appeared. The doctor was concerned about a possible infection, and prescribed a topical antibiotic, a topical steroid cream for the inflammation, and allergy pills for the itch. I have pictures to prove the severity of the bed bug bites- in case the Econo Lodge’s management wants to see them (I already offered to send them by email).
I called the Econo Lodge one more time on Wednesday February 12 2025. The hotel rep was very polite, and stated he would review the facts and investigate the issue. He also repeated the “we have never had a bed bug issue in this hotel” statement. I offered to send the pictures; the representative asked me if I had picture of the bed bugs…

Book at that Econolodge at your own risk. I now understand the reason why people pay a premium to stay at above-average hotels. You get what you pay for.

First thing I noticed about the room: it stinks. Even though we’re in the non-smoking section (do they even have designated smoking sections?) the room smells like a smoker’s lounge. Other than that, the floors are laminate (which is great — no gross and stinky carpet)… the beds are clean… and the bathroom is clean. But I can’t get over the smell. I would not recommend staying here but it works in a pinch. If you’re able to afford it I’d go to the Marriott or the Holiday Inn & Express just up the turnpike.

My son and I had booked another hotel but they did not accept my cat even thought the website said they accepted pets. We were lucky enough to find this Econo Lodge at the last minute. The staff especially Niel was super helpful, the room was clean and quiet. After a long weekend of moving it was just nice to relax.

The entire hotel smells like smoke unfortunately, including the room. The bed was clean and comfortable though, and the bathroom was a nice size with two mirrors. The airport shuttle took a while (goes multiple other places before the hotel) but got me there and was convenient.

I can’t rate the rooms because I didn’t stay there. I booked a space to leave my car during our trip to Mexico. When I got there the person at the desk was very rude. He told me that I was supposed to call 24 hours in advance to confirm my reservation. I showed him the email on my phone and asked him to show me the place where it said that. He looked and said it is there somewhere and I said then please show me. He replied I’m telling you this for the next time. Meanwhile the other people who were leaving their cars are staring at us because he is getting loud. With all the places that I can park my car it surely won’t be there. It was not as if there was no room on the shuttle for us and our luggage. It states it’s valet but it is not. When we got in to pick up the car we walked out into the lot to find it in the cold. Find a place that will at least start your car for you so it’s warm when you get there.

I accidentally booked my room on the wrong night through a 3rd party. I called the hotel as soon as I got the notification that I was due to check in. Which was after work at 5pm. I called the hotel because I know they need to approve any changes through a 3rd party. The guy working told me and priceline that no manager would be available that night, call back tomorrow they will be in at 10. I call at noon manager isn't around, they will have him call me back. 2 hours later, no manager calls me back, the same guy at the front desk says no manager is there, I called really really late last night (it wasn't even 5pm), the GM refuses to refund the money and let me rebook the following night, which would have cost significantly more. So although i made the mistake of rushing through and trying to book my room for my daughter's 16th birthday, these people showed what little customer service they have, how greedy and money hungry they are, They kept my room fee, even after explaining I'm a single mother who saved for months for the trip for my 16 year old daughters birthday. Shameful franchise owned by money hungry people with no souls. Don't rent a room here unless there's no other choices around. These people have shown the dollar sign is all they care about. Shame on you. I will NEVER rent a room with econo lodge any where in the country.

Positive: The desk/checkin attendant was friendly, efficient, and helpful to solve a problem by quickly finding me a second room to move to when the toilet in the first room would not flush properly, Negative: The rooms were FILTHY! The ceiling leaked and dripped all night, wetting everything underneath, and kept me awake. The dirty flooring was displaced revealing the subfloor and there was a pair of dark blue, dirty, men?s brief underwear under a chair.

I stayed here on my last day before a 6 am flight out. The parking lot was well-lit and looked pretty nice. The room is small but I did not see any issues. Hot water in shower, air conditioning worked and did not make strange sounds. Only negative is having to haul my checked bag up the stairs which was very heavy. For the location and price this was great! I don’t expect luxury at these sorts of hotels but it did the job and I felt safe.
