I can't say enough good things about Ken and Allee. This was my first tour with them but it definitely will not be the last. Birding guides are a dime a dozen, and the good ones will know where to go to find the best birds. But this was so much more than a birding trip. It was one incredible experience after another, from seeing an adult Swainson's Hawk swoop in and leave prey for one of two juveniles sitting in a live oak, to seeing a Five-striped Sparrow sitting on a nest, to watching a Montezuma Quail travel across Box Canyon until it was three feet away from us, and even seeing the Milky Way with our naked eyes at Santa Rita Lodge. Both of them are so knowledgeable about birds and their enthusiasm is so contagious! I can't recommend East West enough!

I had the opportunity to go on a guided trip with Ken Blankenship on Sunday, March 3rd in the area around Sierra Vista, Arizona. There were four of us in the group. It was the first time I had been on a guided birding trip. Ken was the best! Over the seven hours we explored four different habitat areas. Ken was not only knowledgeable about the birds in the area, but also many other aspects of the environment in the region. Ken was enthusiastic and fun to be with. We saw a great variety of birds and had a wonderful and educational day. I would recommend Ken as a guide, whether you are a novice or expert birder.

This was my second trip with Ken at EWBT, following on from an equally spectacular trip last September. 175 species found for me by Ken, who is amazing at recognising bird call. We’ve already arranged another tour for next April. Highly recommended. SEAZ is an amazing part of the world to visit.

We had the marvelous opportunity to work privately with Ken Blankenship when birding in Southern Arizona. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about the birds in the area along with knowledgeable about plants, grasses and the history of the land. He drove us to amazing places that we would have never found on our own. Ken did his homework before we got together and was always flexible to make certain we had the best time possible. Ken is a lovely person to spend time with because of his enthusiasm, knowledge and his wonderful view of the World. Ken made our time in Arizona really come alive. We learned so much about the birds we saw and the habitat where we traveled. Our time with Ken was the highlight during our two months of travel.

Great experience birding the Lower Rio Grande Valley with Ken Blankenship. His ability to find birds by their calls is fantastic. Combined with his knowledge of the region and it's specialties, his enthusiasm, energy, patience, perseverance, and ever positive attitude, the trip was going to be great regardless of what birds we found. The fact that we saw over 130 species including most of our targets made it really memorable.

I have been a bird watcher for just under 40 years, 25 years while living in the midwest and fifteen years in Arizona. I found Ken Blankenship willing to take on my list of ‘like to see species’ for this trip. This manifested itself in Ken taking us to three areas for this trip, a little neighborhood with grass tall enough to see my first Scaled Quail, a riparian river bottom area where I was treated to three more life listers, and a mountain canyon where I was delighted to see six hummingbird species. I found Ken to be certainly knowledgeable of the birds of this area and other areas as well, he shared this knowledge freely and enthusiastically. It is quite clear that Ken loves his subject and we know this makes for effective teaching. I would not hesitate to recommend Ken for leading trips for birders at all levels. We all had a wonderful day!
