In the winter the diner is cold and in the summer the diner is hot. The rest rooms are disgusting with no hot water which is a violation of the health department codes.

The coffee machine is old and thus the coffee is not that great. The menu is very basic. The soups are usually pretty good and so is the Greek food. The dinner specials are usually very good and the Rueban Sandwiches are excellent. The eggs can be ‘runny’ or they can be pretty good depending on the cook you get. Over all the breakfast sandwiches are very good.

The tall, thin male waiter / bus boy is very snotty, sarcastic and rude with a serious attitude problem. The service is best at the counter and that side of the diner. The service in the dining room area is terrible.

All together I would rate this diner a 7 out of 10.

I always enjoy the food here. My wife and I when we were dating this was our late night spot when she got out of work. Breakfast is always the go to. Plenty of parking and staff has always been very friendly

Ok. Let's get into it. This establishment has been around for a long time. The staff is elderly and kind of slow but sweet as pie. Our waitress was very accommodating . I wouldn't sit down there to eat again, but I definitely would order takeout. It gives me nursing home cafeteria vibes. (Don't come for me, it just my opinion) I need a great atmosphere when I'm eating. I enjoy the food more...

Their food may not be perfect, but among area diners Duchess is the best. I take into consideration their kind, considerate service and personalities, timely delivery to the table, attention to detail, presentation, taste, and price point.
Duchess is closely competitive based upon my aforementioned, personal preferences and they come out on top as #1 across all categories for the best breakfast and/or lunch venue in the Milford/Shelton area.
My cost is generally twenty dollars per person including a generous tip. Portions are generous.

You simply must tip generously for the good service and food delivered by such hardworking, kind, and competent staff.

i went here to order post workout food. The breakfast was sufficient for me. I ordered the three eggs with bacon and tomatoes. The scrambled eggs look good. The bacon looks good. The food came put really fast. The people were nice. This is also open late whereas most places seem to close early. very good and thank you for the service

Friendly staff, amazing variety for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night, food. The food itself was tasty and came out of the kitchen faster than I thought from previous diner experiences. The atmosphere was cozy and familiar which, I think is what you want in a diner . The staff were friendly and accommodating which made the whole experience that much better! Let's talk about the prices, these are the best prices for what you get, period. Overall I would happily go back to this place and eat again any day of the week.

The food and service were great. The food came out quickly. I had blueberry pancakes with Italian sausages. I also added on 2 eggs over medium with cheddar cheese. That was my FAV. The pancakes could've tasted better. Think it's the batter. Overall 👍🏽 Parking on site.
