I just completed the Rim to Rim hike with Discovery Treks and our group had an awesome experience. Our guides Brittney and Collin did an excellent job guiding us through the Grand Canyon and showing us many of the interesting sights off the main trail. I have backpacked many state parks over the years but it is well worth the effort to book a guided backpacking tour through this company. On the flight home I was already looking into other trips I could take with Discovery Treks and I look forward to heading back out with them in the years to come.

Recently returned from the 3-night, 4-day Rim-to-Rim tour and I can't quit gushing about how AMAZING of a trip it was! Brittney and Collin were our guides. Their #1 goal was to make sure we had a great time, which they successfully achieved! Not only is the canyon awe inspiring, but we also go to learn a lot of its history, share a lot of laughs and stories, eat some amazing food, comradery among fellow hikers, stop at all the secret spots, star gaze, plus they handled all the details of transportation and permitting. And I don't know how they did it, but they timed it perfectly that we ended up hiking mostly in the shade 🙂 If you want to truly experience the Grand Canyon book this trip. Thank you Discovery Treks for making my bucket list trip a reality!

Recently I did the Grand Canyon Hermit-Tonto-Bright Angle rim to river to rim trek with some friends and we had a great time. Having Discovery's support in organizing the logistics, gear, and transportation was great for some busy professionals/parents who otherwise may have overlooked key details. We ended up having a very small group, which was great, and having Phil as our guide was a perfect match as well. Phil had a lot of knowledge of the park and its trails, and flora & fauna, to keep us engaged with nature, and safe, for 3+ days. As an alternative to the rim-to-rim hike, I think this route is likely better as its much less popular than the main rim to rim route (which we were on for the last portion). Its wonderful to disconnect and enjoy the incredible scenery from start to finish.

As far as food, it was quite delicious, a nice mix of familiar and unexpected flavors, that were much more than typical 'camp food.' Though I was a bit concerned with the bathroom situation, the toilets we encountered at camp were clean and not so smelly! Due to the route we took, there were also a couple opportunities to cool off and dip in the stream/river.

I would for sure recommend this company and route to others, just make sure to do sufficient training (strength, endurance, carrying pack, and heat/cold). I would also ensure to check on appropriate insurance for if your plans change at all (or check what your credit card covers for this type of activity). Packing well especially with breathable sun protection will go a long way in making this an enjoyable experience!

I did the Classic Hike to the Grand Canyon and it was awesome! Phil was an amazing guide - he knows so much about the area, took good care of the group and kept spirits high when folks got tired. I would 100% suggest a guided trip to anyone looking to enjoy the Canyon in a unique way but doesn’t know where to start. Don’t underestimate the physical requirements though and be sure to train. 10/10 recommend… Memorable trip!
