Our families had a wonderful time staying at this home near Westcliffe. The view is beautiful, we loved our walks and the town of Westcliffe. The house accommodated us really well, especially with the Thanksgiving holiday. Charley was incredibly helpful and accommodating of our family's needs both before and during our stay. Trails Head Lodge provided exactly the experience I was looking for...A dark skies experience has been on my bucket list and The Lodge exceeded all expectations. If you're looking for the Milky Way, this is where to find it. The quiet was deafening-day and night. Except, perhaps, for the occasional moo from the friendly cows or the hellos from an adorable neighbor kitty who likes to visit. Fully-stocked kitchen, squeaky clean, beautiful house, property and views, close to town, close to the mountains and an easy drive from Boulder. Then there's Charley...Charley is the most responsive, kindest, proactive host I have ever met. He knew about my dark skies obsession and made sure there was an amazing telescope waiting for me to use during my visit. Charley offered multiple suggestions for where I could find the best draught beer in town, the best food, attractions, hikes....not only safe hikes for a solo female hiker but he also gifted my with a can of bear spray! What an amazing experience!

Great views, hot tub, wildlife and quiet porch to enjoy it all. Great for a family or just a couple to get away for the night. Highly recommended. Took the time to add the extra touches.

This home was everything that we wanted for our Westcliffe visit. The location was scenic yet close to town, It was spacious, all of the light switches and kitchen drawers and cabinets were labeled too. We have stayed at three Dark Skies units and each had great coffee from a local roaster and EV charging which was a great bonus.

Loved our stay at Mattie’s lofts. Very convenient to everything in Westcliffe. The room was quiet and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. If staying in winter you may want to bring your own space heater. Will definitely stay here again.

The Trails Head Lodge was the perfect place to hold a family reunion. 9 adults and 2 dogs stayed in the lodge and annex on Oct 6-10, 2023. We enjoyed: stargazing, the fire pit, hiking the trails (nice trail maps and books are provided), games, exploring the towns of Westcliffe and Silvercliffe, and Bishop Castle. It was wonderful to have such a well equipped kitchen to enjoy cooking together and the large dining room table had ample room for everyone. Everyone agrees that this is a five star property and we recommend it highly. Thank you to Charlie, the Darkskies Vacations representative for his quick responsiveness, help and advice.

I just finished up a 2 week stay in the Cloud Suite. The room was newly remodeled with custom cabinets and granite countertops in the bar and bathroom. Quality linens/pillows on the super comfy bed. The owners were easy to contact by email and always responded quickly. I highly recommend Mattie's Lofts and will definitely stay here again next summer.
