I've taken every one of Phyllis's tours and have known her for years. I met her taking her Saigon to Stockholm Tour when I first moved to Chicago, and we have been great friends ever since. I went on a custom tour of the Argyle and Andersonville neighborhoods and it was by far the best food tour I’ve ever been on (I’ve done lots). I could have eaten a full meal at each of the restaurants, they were each that good. Our guide, Bonnie, was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about the food and the neighborhoods. I ended the tour well-fed and eager to visit both neighborhoods in Chicago again. If you are looking for a food tour of Chicago that is less about deep dish and hotdogs and more about local neighborhoods and the rich immigrant character of this beautiful city, I wouldn’t think you could find better than Chicago Foodways.

I stumbled upon Chicago Foodways Tours by sheer luck, and what a delightful find it turned out to be! This experience allowed us to explore a new part of the city, Uptown, on a mouthwatering journey.

Every single stop on the tour was an absolute delight for the taste buds. It's genuinely hard to pick a favorite because, seriously, everything we tried was delicious. However, if you're looking for a standout, don't miss the Vietnamese Leaf Sausages.

Our guide, who not only had a culinary background but had also been a longtime resident of the neighborhood. It was like getting an insider's view of the place, complete with all the hidden gems and local anecdotes.
