I am not exaggerating when I say that this is one of my all time favorite stores. This venerable, family-owned store is a DMV institution and is my family's go-to shop for all things outdoors including: outerwear, base layers, boots, socks, shorts, swimsuits, hats, gloves, etc. The selection and brands are top notch and prices are as good or usually better than bigger stores like REI or North Face.

It's also a great place to get everything you need for your youth (or adult) baseball player. If purchasing a new bat for your young slugger, be sure to ask for the owner, Eric Stern (aka Coach Eric). His expertise at finding just the right model and size bat for your kid is not something you'll find at a giant sporting goods store (not to mention Amazon).

They also have great selection of camping stuff from tents to coolers, backpacks and more. There's even an impressive stock of camping and hunting knives (that I personally avoid because I'd probably sever a finger). I don't know how they get so much awesome stuff into one relatively small store! I've NEVER come away disappointed and we have been going to Casual Adventure for many years now.

Stuff is all well enough, but the BEST thing about C.A., and what separates it from any other outdoor store in the area, is the people. The level of friendly and helpful service provided by Eric and his staff is top notch. They are all outdoor and sports enthusiasts, and their advice has never steered me wrong.

If you have never been there and you have a need for anything related to outdoors, scouts, baseball, camping, etc., PLEASE do yourself a favor and check out Casual Adventure.

My son was looking for a new bat and a friend on our travel team mentioned casual adventures. Let me tell Erik at the store was great: his expertise helped find the perfect bat — length and drop for my son. Plus, besides helping local businesses is still cheaper than going to Dick’s with a coupon. Casual adventures now has my business for the rest of our baseball seasons!!!!!

What a great shop to go shopping for all kinds of outdoor equipment. So when we first got there, the guys were all singing Backstreet Boys songs 👍👏🎉

This family run outfitter has been around for 80 years. They understand the area, and the gear you will need to be successful in your future adventures because they have done it. We attended a speaker event - yes, it’s a learning center as well - with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy where they had two hikers who had completed the trail. We covered everything from medical emergencies to the number of socks that you might need for the entire hike. I went from pondering possibilities to “I think we can start this in March” in the space of a couple of hours. We have a bit more to go but i am confident now that this is real and that I now have a place that I trust to help me achieve this lifelong goal. I think you will as well!

The store is an institution that dates back 80 years. I thought it was 40 what do I know? I’m not 80 yet The current owner has carried on the tradition of great service, great product, and a great experience . So even before you get out the door for your journey you should stop by here. Pick up what you might need and get a lot of info that comes from experience and the heart.
