First time in the Carbondale and Shawnee Wine Trail area. Cabin was in a great location just close enough to town for restaurants and within good driving distance to all of the wineries. Cabin was clean, welcoming, and just what we needed. Owners were great! We will definitely be coming back.

I was just looking for places to come home and stay and of course this pops up. I had never seen your response to my review till now.
Jill you are the liar. My mother who is disabled and walks with a can never stayed at my cabin. She stayed with my sister in Carterville comfortable. Extra car? What time do yall walk Cause my sister in law was at our cabin making breakfast for us in the morning only one day. No one ever stayed there except us. The garbage was because my amazing family sent us back with sandwich and veggie/fruit trays to have while we were there.
I kept you fully informed on all of guest, and moved our gathering when it grew to Herrin park which I also talked to you about!
Don’t ever call me a liar because I am not! Not only do I have photos of the three hours a few of family kiddos came out and your husband showed them around but I also have video of the hot tub the day we left and it wasn’t gross just like the immaculate cabin I left.
You are a drunk and beyond.

We made our reservation on short notice on a beautiful Sunday evening. Dan and Jill couldn’t have been more welcoming and kind. We loved our short time at the Red Cottage which is super comfortable, cozy and peaceful . We were entertained by the animals on the farm, especially the peacocks and turkeys in full bloom!. The sunset brought deer to the meadow. Watching and listening to the peacocks, turkeys and guineafowl settle for the night was a fun way to close our evening. Enjoying a nightcap on the porch brought Libby the cat and Duke and Hank the dogs for a sweet visit.
*If you are looking for a place to spend time, you will be sorry if you don’t choose Cabin On the Hill*

We stayed here Aug 2 through today in celebration of our 37th anniversary. Beautiful property. The cabin had all the amenities of home and allowed for privacy. The walking trail was well maintained and was fun to look for the gnomes. The property is in the country, but minutes from town.

Such a wonderful place to rest and refresh! The animals were charming, the accommodations are comfortable, clean, everything we needed and more. The hot tub was so nice, and loved the propane fire pit on the deck of the red cottage. Perfect combination of classy and quaint. Wonderful fresh eggs, and loved walking the nature path each morning. Located in just the right spot for daily excursions to Shawnee National Forrest and Giant City State Park. We’ll be back!

The Red Cottage was amazing. It was nice size and extremely clean. It was nice to have coffee, sugar, creamer provided as well as a selection of spices. The location is great, close enough to town but you feel much further out. We really enjoyed looking at all the animals. We also really took advantage of the hot tub since it rained a lot during our stay and the deck on the cabin is very large. We will definitely be back!

This will be very long winded but we had an amazing experience until we checked out. I think the owner is an alcoholic or maybe just going through stuff Pretty sure the latter of the two as we took evening walks to the farm and they were drinking and hanging in the little house thing they have there, cracking them open. Super polite though. Her husband is amazing and really did well with the kids and showing the animals. They did seem annoyed after the first meet. Almost felt like an inconvenience to walk down there at sunset.
At booking I told Jill I was going to have family out, around 10/15 people and my sister is a professional photographer and I would release the photos to her. Jill was all about it and they were super nice. When the guest list grew I informed her we were moving the get together to Herrin park and they were appreciative of that cause it’s to many people at that point. She wrote back and said bring the kids though and do pictures at the farm one day! Whatever pictures you have make sure you post for us.
Well long store short we did do pics on a Sunday. One Wednesday when we checked out I left it exactly as we walked in. I washed all towels, swept floors, the whole gamut. It was immaculate!
This women starts rage texting me an hour after check out. Saying there was too much garbage in the outside can and the hot tub was cloudy.
Duh!!! We were there 6 days and you didn’t check the hot tub. I grew up with a hot tub and even told my husband it needed balanced the night before. No one besides my husband, my son and I ever got in it and we only did a couple times.
Be prepared for a massive micro manage book and notes all over the cabin too. Apparently they also stalk you? Jill said that she knew my mom and sister were there and brother(they didn’t stay just hung out at night) So NOOO privacy. Honestly it was beautiful and I loved it till we left and got these long text after we left. Seemed out of the blue. Won’t be back and I’ve shared with all of my family who were excited to book. Pictures are how we left. It was exactly how we walked in. I honestly can’t believe this women sent me these text. I’ve stayed at many cabins all over Tennessee and I’m a professional house cleaner. It was just WOW! She ruined our trip in my eyes.

Cabin on the Hill is phenomenal getaway from the world! With private hot tubs in the cabins and being close to so many amenities we will keep coming back here, it was my second time here. About an hour and twenty from Garden of the Gods and really close to the Shawnee Wine Trail check it out! You won't be disappointed. The farm has great appeal with an array of beautiful animals, though Hank and Duke are probably our favorite. A beautiful spot.
