Our stay here was so lovely. It's such a beautiful house located in a really neat area full of historical mansions. The owners are so nice and attentive, and the breakfast was amazing. Plus, the town of Jacksonville is a hidden gem. There are lots of really cool things to do in town. We really wish we had stayed for longer than just one night!

Our stay here was so lovely. It's such a beautiful house located in a really neat area full of historical mansions. The owners are so nice and attentive, and the breakfast was amazing. Plus, the town of Jacksonville is a hidden gem. There are lots of really cool things to do in town. We really wish we had stayed for longer than just one night! ||Rooms: There are only two rooms available, which makes your stay super intimate and you feel well cared for.||Nearby activities: We pnly walked around downtown, so I'm not sure about elsewhere. There's a really neat bookstore with a play area for kids in the back. There's a board game store, where they actually play games as well. There are lots of restaurants that everyone raved about. There's a few bars and even an axe throwing place. We went and watched a movie at a small theater and we were the only ones there. Unfortunately, it was after 5 when we went out and a majority of the other shops downtown were closed, so I can't comment on those. If you do want to see more, be sure to make a full day of it!||Safety: The house itself felt super safe. The whole downtown area, as well. We walked around after dark and didn't feel scared at all. Several cops were cruising around, and it was peaceful but still active enough to feel comfortable.||Food & drinks: The breakfast they provided was amazing! Everything was delicious and we were so full from it, we didn't even eat lunch. They serve it at the time that's best for you and even have a chef come in to prepare it. It's served on very nice dishes. It feels very luxurious.||Noteworthy details: They give you a physical key to use, which feels very fancy after only staying in hotels. They have a mini fridge with soda, a basket of snacks, candy jars and a full coffee bar. Served cookies at milk at night and offered to let us make smores at the fire pit. They provided soft robes, plenty of towels and they even have their own brand of toiletries. They gave us a map of the town and offered to make reservations for us at restaurants. Friendly, accommodating and a great experience overall! I have a gluten allergy and they adjusted all food to meet my needs and it was fabulous! Bed was comfortable. Gwenn and Glenn were great hosts! Gwenn even made a dinner reservation for us at a local restaurant as we were arriving late and celebrating our anniversary! Dinner at Proud Richard’s was also very good!

Came into Jacksonville for our daughter's college soccer game. Really nice historical home. The hosts were very accommodating and sweet wonderful people. The breakfast was amazing. Would definitely recommend!!

This was the sweetest and most friendliest bed and breakfast I have ever been to! So comfortable… peaceful and just the right place for me to feel decompressed. Inkeepers Gwenn and Glenn were so attentive and truly cared about my experience staying at their Bed and Breakfast. I will absolutely be back. Even if just to connect with Gwenn and Glenn!! It has taken me a few days to put my thoughts in order and prepare myself to write what I hope will be a review that will accurately and profoundly communicate how amazing our stay at Blessings on State was last weekend.

Gwen and Glen are gracious and kind and made us feel comfortable, informed and welcomed from the initial making of the reservation until the morning we departed.

Gwen, although battling a very serious illness and under treatment, was an expert concierge and had several wonderful suggestions of things to do and offered assistance with planning on many.

She informed us, upon arrival, that her friends had put together a special trolley ride for her the next morning and she could invite 10 friends and invited me and my husband to join. The mayor, Director of the Jacksonville Convention and Vistors bureau, and various elected officials came to send us off. Then, here comes a big red Fire Engine, lights in motion with three strapping firefighters to assist with getting Gwen and her wheelchair in the trolley.

As we took off for our ride, to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Downtown Main Street program, Gwen's face was beaming as well as those of the other riders. The level of gratitude and respect these members of the community must feel for Gwen and her family was evident at every turn.

Our first evening, in our gorgeouly appointed room, was topped off by a surprise knock that included warm cookies and milk! What!?!

Both Saturday and Sunday's breakasts were exquisite and rivaling any recipe from Bon Appetite Magazine. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch taking in the beautiful neighborhood and especially the blazing firepit that Glen had prepared for us in the backyard when we came home from a late dinner.

To say our weekend was magical is an understandment. We even rebooked for December as we have heard that Blessings is a sight to behold at Christmastime.

I can honestly say, that we felt different after leaving this special place and hope that our new friends know how grateful we are for their hard work and attention to their guests.
