We have been members of harvest hosts for 2 years and Blackwater Tours has been the best so far!! Captain Ken offers and amazing tour of Blackwater Bay. The rich history of the mill industry and an amazing sunset cruise.

Ken was available and attentive our entire stay. He offers water and electric hookup for 30 amp. His property is located on a canal leading into Blackwater Bay. His was a most gracious host. Highly recommend and we do plan to make this stop a must when our travels lead us west.

This was an amazing tour. We ended up in the wrong spot due to our map, got turned around, and arrived late, Ken was still so thoughtful and kind. He knows the river very well and has guide books. We saw an Osprey, he had binoculars so we could see him very clearly. The sunset was the most perfect as Florida sunsets are, but Ken made it extra special with music for my family. We will definitely stop by for this tour again in the future.

We enjoyed a fantastic tour of Blackwater Bay with Captain Ken! It is way more than just a boat ride - it gave us an interesting perspective of the logging and lumber industry in the bay including seeing the remnants of some sunken boats and he shared historic pictures with us and explained things in detail.
His dog Lucy looked like she wanted to be included so we said "let's bring her along" and that ended up being a bonus.
The sunset was spectacular that evening so we would highly recommend this adventure to anyone!

UPDATE: We had so much fun on our first cruise in the spring (see below), we went back for a late-summer experience in September when my daughter came for a visit. Captain Ken has added a stop at the new dock at the Bagdad Mill Site Park. Great place to access the river, walk your pups, rollerblade, etc. Once again, a great tour…and, oh, what a sunset!

What a find! We set sail with Captain Ken Ponsell and Lucy, his first mate (a sweet border collie/greyhound) for a two-hour evening tour of the Blackwater River and Bay. We learned a lot about the waterway’s history, including a lumber mill and the backstories of three scuttled ships. We saw several huge osprey nests and the adult birds living and raising their young in them. A real treat was seeing adult ospreys in flight right overhead. Bring your favorite food and beverage and don’t miss this affordable, relaxing outing!

This was an awesome overnight spot for us and our 2 pups! The Blackwater Riverboat tour made it even better. Ken is super knowledgeable of the history of this area and was so kind and warmhearted. We felt safe and would definitely stay there again!

Such a beautiful bay! We got lucky and had dolphins come up to the boat to play! Great tour if you are interested in the history of the lumber industry in the area.

This was a GREAT evening experience. Ken shares his passion for the area with his stories and historic pictures of the sawmill and lumber history that shaped the area and Florida's economy. All this while you are relaxing on his clean comfortable pontoon boat. The wildlife- eagles and osprey and then the sunset-a perfect relaxing evening. We encourage you to take this cruise. We cannot say enough about the experience-it was a perfect night with an amazing guide. We will be back!
