The sunset bioluminesce tour was an amazing way to spend New Year's Day!

We saw dolphin, manatee, jumping fish, native birds, bioluminescent plankton, and jellyfish!

The sunset was stunning, and everyone in our group had an exceptional time. I went with a 12 year old and dad who had never kayaked before. With the confidence inspiring orientation, they looked like naturals on the water!

There is limited cell service at Haulover Canal, so I would recommend offline directions instead of relying on GPS navigation.

January is a great time to see birds visiting from cooler climates, too! The nature is just splendid at the Canaveral National Seashore.

Oh my goodness, this far exceeded our expectations! You’ve gotta add this to your bucket list. My daughter and I did the Christmas lights bioluminescence kayaking tour at the end of December. We had so much fun learning all about different types of jellyfish, their habitat, all while “Jungle Jay” led us on a tour playing Christmas music with his kayak lit up in Christmas lights, as we paddled past several homes decorated for Christmas, and we even got to cast our vote in their contest for best decor! Jay made us feel comfortable with scooping up comb jellies in our hands and lightly tapping them to watch them glow. He was so knowledgeable and had great stories to tell. We had so much fun and did not want the tour to end! Cannot wait to go back!

Our tour was with Terrance and Javier! We had an amazing time. They were full of information and always on the look out for wildlife. Even though it was January it happened to be a very nice night. Not too cold and enough cloud cover that it was very dark which aloud us to see both types of bioluminescence, the plankton and the jellyfish. We heard 2 dolphin and several types of birds and saw a small alligator. This was beyond amazing and hope to do it again in the summer! Thank you an amazing experience!

Jungle Jay and Shay were awesome guides! Me and my wife did the sunset tour. Tip: keep an open mind and take a tour with zero expectations and I promise you will have an amazing time! We didn't see a sunset cause it was very over cast and in fact we got drenched with rain! But we seen birds of all types and fish launching out of the water. Also right off the bat we saw a pod of dolphins! And shortly after we saw manatees! Then half way through we had a gator swim by us. When it came time to see the bioluminescence we went out and it was beautiful. My wife said she felt like she was touching the stars. Jay and Shay did so well with our group and were so informative and engaging. all in all 10/10 great Job guys. Thank you for such a memorable experience.

Our family of 3 did a sunset and bioluminescence tour. Our guide was Jay, and he was great! He was very engaging with the littles, and made the tour fun.

For odd size groups, someone will be put in a single kayak.

For the sunset portion we paddled to various locations and were lucky to see manatees, dolphins and an alligator! Birds were also everywhere. There was plenty of opportunity to take photos.

After the sunset we returned to shore for a quick break and went back out about 20 minutes later. The bioluminescence started out a little slow but as you understood what to look for it really started to jump out!

Jay and the other guide were helpful giving tricks along the way to be able to “agitate” the bioluminescence to see it. They even caught some of the jellies and put them in a fish bowl so we could interact more closely.

Overall it was a super cool experience and highly recommend it!

Some tips:

- Bring sunscreen and bug spray!
- You WILL get wet and depending on the time of year it will be cold. (Bring a towel to drape over your legs!)
- Bring extra clothes for after (although there is no changing room)
- The bioluminescence is HARD to capture on film so put your camera down and just enjoy it!

One of the coolest things I’ve ever done!! Kayaking in the dark is definitely a different experience and seeing the bioluminescence with every paddle stroke was amazing! I loved hanging out where the manatees were and seeing the dolphins. Austin was the best guide and was full of great information. He was easy to follow and made sure everyone was safe and having a great experience. If I could give more than five stars, I would!
